  1. The ex Astros GM just placed the blame fully on Cora.
  2. What is there about cheating that makes you think that this merits less punishment. Cheating is cheating.
  3. You are in denial. A ton of bricks is about to fall on Cora and the Red Sox. If I were Henry I would be really worried about what Dombrowski will be telling the Commissioner.
  4. Cora would be fired for cause. This would probably nullify his contract.
  5. What makes you think that MLB would follow the usual protocols. They must prevent this from happening again.
  6. Here is something to ponder: Will Dave Dombrowski throw Red Sox ownership under the bus. If he is interviewed and one assumes he would be and he implicates ownership then the roof really does cave in now doesn't it?
  7. The unanswered questions for Boston is who in the FO knew. How far up in the hierarchy did it go? Did Kennedy, Werner or Henry know and or were they in a position to stop it? If they knew and tacitly condoned it, then the punishments could rock professional sports. So the nitpicking about it wasn"t as bad as Houston really isn't germaine. It was still illegal and cheating. The questions that MLB are concerned about are: Who knew and What did they do to stop it?
  8. By definition the manager is the ringmaster. It is clear from the commissioner's statement on the Astros that management bears the heavy burden for condoning and failure to stop the behavior. You can rationalize but MLB will come down hard on both the Red Sox and Cora. There will be tremendous pressure on Henry to fire Cora just like the Astros did Hinch. The only question is the magnitude of the punishment. I believe MLB could ban Cora for a period of time permitting him to apply for reinstatement eventually. He is going to be hit hard. As for Boston this being the second offense will also be hit hard. I'm my mind it will be more severe than Houston precisely because it is a second offense.
  9. Steve Buckley writing in the Athletic believes that Boston will likely fire Cora this week prior to MLB finishing its investigation. It is immaterial whether other clubs were doing it. The Red Sox got caught twice in the last three years. They are going to be sanctioned severely, the question is how much worse than the Astros.
  10. Cora is toast. He was the manager. The Commissioner made clear that condoning such behavior was unacceptable. Unless Cora took affirmative action to stop and prevent it he will be held to account.
  11. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! The Commissioner gave fair warning. Second offense penalties should be more severe than Astros. The Commissioner 's credibility requires that he show disregarding his warnings have consequences.
  12. It is not beyond the possibility that Cora will be banned from baseball if the rules permit.
  13. Bull s***! The report clearly showsCora's guilt. They just have not determined his punishment which could be worse.
  14. MLB radio is predicting that the Red Sox may not wait for the final report to fire Cora. I think they will wait but will be forced to axe him if the report in any way implicates him.
  15. I certainly agree. I too will believe it when I see it. JBJ is always on the cusp of breaking out with his hitting but he never does.
  16. I think that is the point both Price and JBJ's contracts mean they are paid much more than they are worth to any potential trade partner.
  17. Agreed! I have thought Price and JBJ particularly were unattractive to other teams for some time.
  18. I think the point is that JBJ's salary and his comparative standing among centerfielders makes him less attractive to other teams as trade bait.
  19. The MLB network just came out with its top ten centerfielders. JBJ was no where to be found on anyone's list of the top ten CFers. I have thought for some time that Red Sox fans had a higher opinion of JBJ than did the rest of baseball. This seems to support that view.
  20. If you do not feed the beast then it will definitely eat you.
  21. Give an overview of what he is trying to accomplish. Henry's email to Shaughnessy was an effort to give the red sox some exposure in the media. This prolonged absence isn't helpful to the Red Sox brand. That is just one major difference between Boston and Tampa. The FO needs to feed the beast. The beast in this case is the sports media.
  22. I think you are correct but Bloom needs to feed the beast. Some kind of interview would be helpful in my view.
  23. And it would be more entertaining if Bloom were to actually do something. Has he even given a press interview?
  24. I do not play either. I was just making the point that concocting trade scenarios on web sites is as useful as playing stratomatic or all star baseball. It is to baseball what solataire is to card games.
