  1. Wright was the right man tonight. I love knuckleballers.
  2. The Sox were looking at the price per pound and they thought it was a good deal.
  3. I heard a number of media types being very skeptical of the Sandoval signing. There were ample warnings about his regular season numbers not be that exceptional. I agree that the Sox were seduced by his playoff numbers.
  4. The Sox have to be very careful with Podriquez, Owens and Johnson in September. All will probably be close to their max innings for the year.
  5. Well the rain delay did delay the White Sox from scoring until after 8 at least.
  6. The game is in rain delay. Hurrah that means Boston might make to 8 o clock without being down by 5 runs.
  7. Sox fans can debate and discuss possible moves and acquisitions. However, there is only one move that must be done before the team can get out of the enormous hole Cherrington has dug for it. Henry must fire Cherrington and hire an experienced GM.
  8. What you are saying in a nutshell is: hire a proven baseball professional, give him a budget and let him do his job.
  9. Jerry Stephenson sucked in 65 and 66 before Williams became sox manager in 67.
  10. I don't remember him but I was referring to Sox pitchers.
  11. I vaguely recall a starter named Jerry Stephanson who pitched back in the early sixties. He was pretty bad. But I didn't see him as often as I've seen Porcello. Kelly at least has a fastball and could be an effective short reliever. I just haven't seen any upside to Porcello
  12. I can't recall a starter as consistently awful as Porcello
  13. That sums it up. What that really means is their farm system is either overrated or they have traded away their good prospects.
  14. This could the worst Red Sox team since 1932. The way they are playing they could easily lose 100 games,
  15. Hannigan was going to solve Percello's problems. I guess that idea was all blown to hell.
  16. That's the best thing Porcello has done all year.
  17. Right you are. The absolute disaster that Cherrington created will take years to repair regardless of the budget especially if Henry's absurd restriction remains in force. Buchholtz will be yet another year older next year. Red Sox fans have only seen only brief instants of Buchholtz living up to his promise and talent. As he ages the likelihood that he'll live up to that promise will only diminish. In fact there is greater probability that he will spend more time on the DL. That leaves only ERod who has yet a long road to travel before he can be counted on to be a reliable consistent starter. In all honesty one should be surprised to see a 500 ball club in 2016. The hole is that deep.
  18. No! Ne made a running catch and his momentum carried hum to up and over the wall into the bullpen. He fell on the bullpen tarp possibly injuring his shoulder.
  19. That play sums up the entire season to date.
  20. Harrelson is an irritating loud shrill noise. Thorne's droning stats are like the steady drip drip of the Chinese water torture.
  21. As bad as Harrelson is, at least he doesn't bombard you with meaningless stats the way Thorne does. The O's annoucers are the horrors.
  22. Dan Duquette didn't take that long to turn the O's around. Admittedly the O's haven't won the world series but the ballclub has at least returned to respectability. I am sure that they could find a GM who could do the same. I don't think Ben has the capability to do that. I question his judgement. The sooner Henry and company bite the bullet and hire a competent GM and give him the authority to clean house, the sooner the Red Sox can return to at least respectability. Let's face this club is not respectable and unless they make major adjustments to their pitching they won't be for some time.
  23. It may have been overlooked by Ben but it has been fairly obvious to anyone watching this team regularly.
  24. They all look ( and play) like dead men walking.
  25. It may be a smear campaign or it may be that everyone sees just how incompetent Cherrington is. His Houston press conference was a disaster.
