  1. I predict 2 wins for the Sox out of these last 7 games. That would leave them at a 77 and 85 record for the year. Then again, they might lose all 7 which is not out of the realm of possibility.
  2. Defense sucked balls......hitting with RISP sent one to the liquor cabinet too often.....but the players had nothing to do with the Sox fantasizing that they had a competitive rotation. They never got close to a competitive rotation. The BP was so taxed so often that I cannot even offer a comment on them.
  3. Well the point being that the Sox don't need to win this game, nor the next nor the next after that.
  4. I wonder if Cora would have pulled Crawford in the 5th if this was still a season. In fact I don't really wonder. I suspect there is no doubt Cora would have pulled him.
  5. Is the K rate for our hitters really out of control lately? Not sure but it sure seems like it is out of control.
  6. Boy that Roger's OF has remained slow as molasses since they replaced it. Does not seem to have gotten a lick quicker. I remember the first artificial turf baseball parks. The ball just scooted. And that is that.
  7. This could work out. The Jays looked like they were all fat and happy and ready to sweep the Sox out of Rogers. Might be tough for them to buck up and get the job done. Nahhhhhhh.....what the hell am I talking' about!
  8. Sean would be fired and Paps would probably be arrested.
  9. Its like the booth is completely oblivious to how cursed the Sox offense is today and most days. God how I would love it if they would put Paps up there with anybody but OB....tired of his act too.....Paps and Sean McDonough would be unreal.
  10. Its like the Jays know all they have to do is snuff these Sox pseudo-rallies out and maybe score a couple more runs of their own. Game over....get out the broom.
  11. Yup.....it seems they must be sitting on the bench scheming....."How many ways can we f*** this up....Lets get out the tablets and work it out"
  12. Here we go......I think I will start pouring a drink RIGHT NOW. Geezus, they didn't even give me time to get the ice in the glass.
  13. Hey we got a chance to score. Less than two outs RISP!!!! "Nah......thats not an opportunity to score" "Well if that isn't what is?" "batter graced by a four base error by the opposing team"
  14. RISP seems more like a burden than a blessing for this edition of the Sox.
  15. More mental errors by the Jays that they don't have to pay for.
  16. Bichette does not deserve to have that work out for him. What the hell was he thinking about at the plate. Oh that's right. I just need to look up at my own post #37 to figure that one out.
  17. I agree on Rafaela. For once OB is right...that was simply a rookie mistake of nerves. That said the game after having been well played and well pitched has devolved into a cacophony of mental and fundamental mistakes mainly by the Jays. Over the years that we have watched the Jays always just not quite getting there, I have never thought them a good fundamental baseball team no matter who is coaching them and who is playing for them. Must be something in the water up there.
  18. Which they will likely be lucky to play 500 ball against while getting whacked silly by the likes of the O's, Rays and in these remaining Jaya games.
  19. The teams the Sox have left to play for the most part are at least good enough to still be in the running for the last of the new expanded post season spots. The Sox on the other hand are bottom dwellers. They had their shot to bulk up their record on the teams in the AL that cannot even manage a 400 or better winning record. Now the Sox are stuck playing out the season against teams that are actually at least in the running for the 3 wild card spots.......with......the expected results it would appear. So now I am stuck with recognizing that my own projection made at the start of this season of woe that the Sox would be a 500 team in a sea of crap was very likely........OPTIMISITIC.
  20. My choice would be Rafaela. No question in my mind anyway. Play Duran in Left or trade him.
  21. Have you ever seen such a passive hitting Yankee team in your life. Actually I have. But I am old as dirt. So I sort of don't count. Anybody know if they are going absolutely out of their minds down there or are they trying to rationalize this mess.
  22. Except that "playing out of position" disease affects all of the fielding positions. Playing out of position was never as popular as it became during the shift era. For example it became popular to think about Ofer's as just that Ofer's. Stick them anywhere out there. That could not be farther from the truth.
  23. And Verdugo is one of our better fielders. Where was he going? The booth beside itself over the scoring. Who cares....play should have been made on the ball.
  24. The shift protected lousy fielders. They didn't have to move to the baseball. Hence it became easy to rationalize playing players out of position. The shift was deigned so that they would be where the ball was going to land. That also means they did not have to be fleet footed and nimble. It is also much easier to throw the ball if you did not have to run to catch it in the first place. That also allowed teams to bring up players that could hit but really could not field worth a crap. There are so many players right now that do not even exhibit basic fielding skills and are constantly caught chewing on their gloves......out of position and unable to even make a play that should have been made. Under the circumstances, the Mookie Betts sort of player should be more prized even than he is.
  25. Myself, never thought we should be buyers because this is what we were right from the start ....A BAD TEAM. at the least a very poorly constructed team - Too many guys especially pitchers coming off the DL and that never goes well when you have so many. Rotation has been awful - I cannot even judge the BP because those guys are gassed and pitching too many innings. No teams have studs pitching the in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings because those should be rare occasions. Staffs are not that deep. Your most questionable pitchers are going to pitch those innings and if you have to toss them out there too often you are toast. - Too many players were going to be playing out of position as this whole s*** show across baseball of playing everybody everywhere was going to blow up on its most ardent proponents. Count us as one. The end of the shift was going to expose this nonsense for what it was ....NONSENSE. - Too much offense dependent on too few guys and a defense from hell
