I am hoping that the success of the other four starters makes it easier for the Sox to see their way to grabbing up a 5. It wil be a bit of a choice though. You have to think Webster will be here next year. Maybe they pick somebody up and eventually trade him to make room for Webster.
Nice to see Lester play the role of stopper as in losing streak stopper....perfect job in that regard tonight...maybe even the first time I have seen him do a perfect job with respect to being a stopper. Really happy for him.
Honestly I don't want to see every guy in a Sox uni going up to the plate thinking he is swinging a boat oar even if Mickey Mouse is pitching. They just need to be better than that cause they are just not our father's bash down the walls Red Sox team.
Ortiz suddenly not seeing that pitch low and away...that has not been his danger zone in the past....up and in has been with David thinking he is going to handle that pitch the way he handles the down and in. He has swung at a few more of those lately than I am used to seeing.
This is really the kind of inning we need to see this team have. Solid plate appearances at the top of the order...smart baseball leading up to the big bats in the middle with guys on and nobody out...a run already across
Ells has developed a problem similar to WMB's, not the same but in both cases, pitchers are trying to finish them off with the slider outside and down.
There is no question in my mind that Webster will be back. I even think he will be back this year. I just don't think he will be back here and stay here enough to be installed in the rotation. I expect him to be in the rotation next year.
I just hope they don't end up thinking they were doing well at one point and not so well now because "thats baseball". There are real differences in what they were and are doing.
I would love to see how Farrell handles this with the team. The change in offensive approach seems so obvious. Would love to see how Farrell tries to get them going back in the right direction again.
In part some of them are pressing. However they changed their approach before they started pressing. So that is really significant I think. Hopefully it will make it easier for Farrell to get them going again.
I have been busy tonight but have heard a good deal of booing that seems to be directed at our guys. Have we been booing our pitchers or hitters or what???
