  1. Down goes the hippo again. I had heard last year and then again just the last couple days that Prince had a major falling out with Cecil and that until recently the two had not talked in years. Anybody know the background on that?
  2. Another good reason to end this tonight would be to end it before this hippo gets on track again
  3. Whatever else he is, he's Ortiz's best friend in baseball...maybe best friend period.
  4. XB looked a bit like a SS playing 3rd there.
  5. Too much Joe Buck could drive anybody right up the wall.
  6. Go Sox...end these pussy cats......
  7. LF is not SS. If Gomes is there for his defensive numbers over Nava (Gomes does have better numbers) then that is even goofier than the spark BS. This team is not hitting and needs better offense. If that were not the case, then Gomes defensive numbers are enough better than Nava's to me to be worth considering even in LF. Besides, they are coming back to Fenway where there is less acreage to cover. I have not checked Nava vs Gomes against old blue eye but unless Gomes is producing better offensive numbers against him than Nava is, I would play Nava in Game 6.
  8. Farrell's "logic" for keeping Gomes in is this spark ******** which people are buying into. Crap.....So, I guess I should discount Gomes PH performance this season as valueless because the Sox did not benefit earlier in those games from his "spark" appeal. BS. Farrell should have continued to at least platoon the two players as he did during the regular season. Granted all of the Tigers starters are righties but that's life. They are not hitting as a team so I would buy into dropping Gomes into the lineup in any situations where regardless of a straight platoon decision, Gomes might have better numbers against one or more of the RH pitchers. However this spark garbage just drives me batty.
  9. Jim Leyland is finally too old. It happens to all of us. Finally has happened to him.....
  10. I have to say that WMB has had better AB's post season that I expected from him. Granted they have been bad enough for Farrell to finally decide that he had to remove either Drew or WMB and I guess based on Drew's defense combined with being a LH bat, he tapped WMB on the shoulder and had him grab some pine. Honestly as I have said before, I think Drew has turned into one of Farrell's binkies. That said, Drew makes most of the plays at SS that you expect a SS to make. However he does not make all of them. He made the play on the horrid Lester throw. However I think XB makes that play. That was an athletic play. Can't convince me that Drew is more athletic than XB. If I had to value Drew's defense vs XB's defense I don't think there is really much there to talk about. I would go with the LH bat except that Drew has been a LH bat against RH pitchers in this series and has not even been close to doing anything worth talking about. WMB has had marginally better AB's than Drew has had regardless of batting from the right side. For me the scales tip back to Drew sits in game 6 because of Fenway park. In Fenway I would prefer WMB at third and batting and XB at SS and batting. Takes another LH bat out of the lineup but Drew has not been close....not close. Neither move would be an overreaction of any sort.
  11. As for Leyland...I think the game has just past him by. Feels like he has been managing for decades and it might just be time. People like him...seems to be a nice enough sort and about a decade ago he seemed to be closer to the top of his game. A lot of the older managers are finding their way out of the game these past couple seasons. Jim's turn has to be right around the corner.
  12. I can't believe this network. "Lets put up a slow mo shot of Iggy grinding around the bases as our champagne shot" as if he is ever much on the bases.
  13. f*** you Iggy.....Go take a shower
  14. Ya' know I am all in favor of swinging at your pitch when you get it...but in that situation, batting against a guy for the first time this evening I think Pedey would have been wise to at least take one pitch...see where the guys arm angle is on release. Give yourself some chance that is at least better than pure dumb luck!
  15. My God..he couldn't bunt...he couldn't hit...what a mess
  16. Anybody here what West said to Ells?
  17. Jeez Vic is a panic in this situation
  18. f*** mvp...Koji for President......Koji what would you like to do to speed the economic recovery?
  19. That could be but he was never ever going to be appreciated by the Sox brass...not the kind of guy they like or keep at SS. So your welcome to scratch that itch all you want but Iggy was never destined to stick in a Sox uni.
  20. Drew might as well close his eyes and hope his bat runs into something
  21. f***ing ump totally f***ed up Naps AB...huge dif there. How the f*** does a htter protect the plate if that piece of s*** is going to be called a strike
  22. f***ing up gave Veras that strike *******
  23. First think about the very best expectation you can have for Iggy as a hitter and then think about the Sox being satisfied with that in a SS and you can save yourself however much angst or regret you might think you should have.
  24. Best way to get iggy is to overpower him upstairs. He loves digging that s*** out that is right off the plate.
