  1. Thank God for the walk. Salty's swing is so long now....I just don't know how he can hit anything that way.
  2. Yessssssss....come on Sox get on the board
  3. All right.....come on Sox....get the bats going
  4. Jeez Peavy is either missing outside or catching too much plate throwing for the outside corner. This is just getting ridiculous.
  5. Peavy is missing out there a lot. Why is Peavy going outside so much anyway when the Cards like it out there and don't like the ball inside nearly as much.
  6. God I hate umps that are just guessing at the outside black
  7. Would love to see Nava make them pay for the way they just pitched Ortiz.
  8. Not really ...he goes the opposite way a good deal. You can tell when he is trying to hit it out vs his typical hard swing.
  9. I don't like it when Pedey feels pressured to swing out of his shoelaces.
  10. Merloni on radio now saying that the Sox now have to get more aggressive at the plate. Thought they should have been more aggressive in this game from pitch 1 and said so yesterday.
  11. I just hope Jake can stay awake now. Somebody must have shot him full of morphine to get his blood pressure down.
  12. Seems like the breeze in that park has got the Sox sort of flummoxed out there. But Jake looking much better with his location.
  13. Will need to see if he can actually handle the middle of the Cards order with the stuff he is showing so far tonight. He got outs in the 2nd but I am not sure I saw anything that says the Sox better get the bats going.
  14. Thought they were one more guy away from Kelly. Jeez that was a lotta' guys in the 1st.
  15. Well if the first two batters do get on, do you really think they can go further with Jake at that point? The guy has already proven to be a basket case in these post season games. If the first two guys get on and Farrell leaves him there I expect he will melt into the rubber right in front of us.
  16. My opinion only....I would be looking to get him out of there. Clearly it is so early that Farrell will not pull him right here. However I am not sure I would give him more than one, maybe two batters in the next inning. Sounds silly I know.....I just think Peavy is lost again!!!!
  17. Well we knew this would be a runs game...at least we knew Peavy was not going to be shutting anybody out. So it boils down to keeping up on the scoreboard. Sox bats have to show up tonight. I know I am groping for something good to come out of this but maybe they finally get going offensively because they finally really have to.
  18. For God sake Jake. Where are you throwing the ball?
  19. I finally can't take it any longer. Even with the latency, decided to listen to radio and watch FOX. Just can no longer take Buck and Cadaver.
  20. A very timely reappearance by sewer horse. I feel much better now.
  21. XB was not alone in game 2 but he was farther off the page with Wacha than most of the more experienced Sox hitters. All of them should have been sitting more on that change considering how Wacha uses it and considering that it is not a secret how he uses it. Generally speaking if the location is good on the change and it is a good change (thrown with same arm angle as FB with major dif in velo) then even expecting it, it can be a tough pitch to hit. However Wacha left some in horrid locations for the Change both to XB and other Sox batters as well. If the Change is left in a bad location it can be a very easy pitch to hit even if you are looking FB. You have to get the bat on the same plane with it and keep the head of the bat in the hitting zone as long as possible. If it is in a bad location and you are looking for it, it should end up resting in some parking lot across the street from the outfield fences. I do think XB's inexperience at the plate at the ML level showed a bit in game 2. Still, you absolutely have to be careful where you would use WMB and today is not the day IMO.
  22. Hopefully Jake and the Sox have been preparing such that he does not have to be peeling off the ceiling before the start and hopefully Nieves is prepared to go out there and just remind Jake to breadth every few pitches if he looks like he is over-amped and all over the map again. Can't afford to lose his start to that sort of stuff today. Too much uncertainty around what is happening with Buch. Also given the relative ranking of Kelly in the Cards rotation, the Sox may have to jump on him looking for runs early instead of looking for pitch count early. It is not like Kelly is a world beater. We might be better off going out to harm this guy early and get up on the Cards. That might also help smooth Jake out a bit.
