  1. That is absolutely true. I don't think any of Cora' starters will end up battling excessive weariness by season end. Cora has done this grind as a young player, as an old player and we have all commented that he is if anything overly conscience of fatigue.
  2. I am willing to bet that when the depth of this mess that is now MLB is fully understood Manfred is going to take the bullet for it and he might deserve it. He has been with MLB before being its commissioner right. So he got to be around while this entire mess was developing. But even that said, it is only partially his fault. The dimwitted owners are likely to blame as much as anybody. But not a single one of them will probably stand up for Manfred. In fact they will likely tar and feather him.
  3. Not sure a platoon at 3rd makes much sense. The Sox have bit the bullet and taken their chances bringing up a kid that should actually still be learning his craft. I don't think that it makes much sense to limit his playing time for nunez sake. Maybe if it gets to crunch time at the end of the season and the Sox need not to see Devers flailing in a big spot....maybe then. But until then, I would just let Devers play. Honestly the most likely guy on the team to be flailing is nunez. So I am not sure they gain much until you get to the end of the season and maybe want to play LH/RH in big spots.
  4. Yup....KC pitchers have been walking him. Letting him get the count to 3-2. This clown let JBJ get the count to 3-2 and then literally put the ball on the barrel of his bat. What did it yield? A single.... If that pitch was a little outside, JBJ would have lunged at it. If it was a little inside, he would have been late on it. JBJ is leaving nothing else to do. There is literally no way to hit even decent MLB pitching with the swing JBJ is featuring today.
  5. Well that was a great job by Porcello getting out of that. Risky move by Cora. But he likely thinks we will just score five more runs if we have to against this bull pen. He is likely correct.
  6. Notice Bonifacio does about the same thing JBJ has been doing recently.
  7. For God sake Cora just get him the F--k out of this game. He can't get RH Royals out.....RH ROYALS!!!
  8. The pitch that XB hit to put the likely nail in the coffin was just an outstanding job of hitting. Beni has been terrific today but he is hitting pitches he should hit from this crap pitching staff. The pitch XB just hit would make most MLB hitters take a Bugs Bunny cartoon swing. Us, we would swing three times on one of those pitches before the pitch even got to home plate. All in, XB has been just stunning today.
  9. XB is just sparking today.....Box score may just look like a good game. But he carried this team on his back today.
  10. I would love to know how many of Mitch's hits come against Bullpens. I think Mitch sees bullpen and starts foaming at the mouth this year.
  11. It is easy enough to see what JBJ has "changed" this time. Probably has changed more than one thing. But the one that is really obvious is that he is dropping his hands to trigger his swing differently. The butt of the bat is angled closer to perpendicular which makes the bat feel like you are swinging a sequoia tree. Now when he starts his actual swing the bat feels to him like it weighs a ton and its not moving to the hitting zone. So he is late and knows he is late....he just does not know why. As a result he is trying to make it up by being quick. But he does not have Mookie quickness with a bat in his hands. He ends up with this wristy floppy looking swing. See if he does not do it again next AB. He has been doing it all day long so far.
  12. Walking JBJ there was ridiculous. It should be clear that we have had our two weeks of JBJ glory at the plate. Wonder what Cora thinks of that. I said it was useless for Cora to tell JBJ not to "change a thing" when he started streaking. There is some physical law that prevents JBJ from not changing a thing and he simply does not even recognize that his swing is changing the entire time.
  13. Hey...we have been watching managers with these s*** teams strategize how to make even competitive games all season. Cash has been terrific at it this year. So maybe the Royals strategy is to swing at everything. Compel the opposing manager to keep a guy in the game who is pitching crap but has a low pitch count. Stay in the game and hope like heck that the opponent simply laughs themselves silly to a lost game watching how the Royals actually play baseball. The stunned opponent goes back to their hotel never knowing what hit them. Probably most effective on getaway days when the trip is actually to the airport instead of the hotel. That said, I don't see how the Royals pen can stand up to this Sox team even without JD.
  14. More batting practice from Rick. Did it even look like Merryfield was trying on that swing?
  15. Please God Mitch make sure XB gets to hit here.
  16. XB is just sparkling today and I just love that. Its like he went to the clubhouse today...saw the lineup...knows its a getaway day and just decide to put the team on his back. Even at half a game so far, a terrific performance by him. Meanwhile Rick remains in some dream state.
  17. In truth I have to agree with on JBJ. I expect JBJ to be shopped. He will have some agent whispering in his ear that "You is a great ballplayer, underappreciated and about to break out. Worth $20m a year anyway". Though I don't this offseason was an anomaly for the FA market. I think the truly big money is going to be saved for the really really big draws. MLB has started to see what is happening. I don't think they have an answer for the lack of quality. However I just do not think they will continue to pay big money for this drivel.
  18. Perhaps JBJ can be convince that after all, he is a role player.
  19. Dame it Rafi! That was like shooting ducks in a barrel and the barrel won!
  20. "KC has the lead, 2-1" says OB. If I didn't feel like we could beat this team coming out of a bar on a bender I would be puking my guts up.
  21. To have allowed the Royals RH hitting corp to do the damage is unconscionable. Rick seems to be on flyaway day cruise control.
  22. Rick throwing batting practice now.
  23. But what makes that decision hard is that at least JBJ fills a role on this team. These other teams don't even have role players. The role player is almost a thing of the past as well as everyday players other than the stars that can actually play MLB baseball. OK Rick, now you are truly embarrassing yourself.
  24. You allowed a RH hitter on this team other than Sal Perez to get a hit off you Rick? You should hang your head in shame.
  25. God this Royals team is awful....AWFUL. Maybe MLB thinks there as an audience for the fight to the bottom. Will the O's end up worse than the Royals? Maybe some team will sneak in there and rob it from them both. Just disgusting baseball...AWFUL!!!
