  1. On to the Toronto Invalids
  2. I really like those extra flaps on the helmets. You could tuck your head avoiding a pitch and really make it hard for the ball to get to your face. Even with the ear flap it is almost like the ball is a guided missile that will find a way to your face if at all possible.
  3. No idea why Cora went to Hembree there. Just asking for it. Still are because Kimbrel has to come out for the 9th. No idea why 0-9 v Colon Nunny gets the start at 3rd over Devers either. This one has not been one of Cora's best efforts.
  4. What did I just say last game thread about using Hembree two days in a row?
  5. Boy you know Cora did not want to have to do this to win this game. Kimbrel with no room for even one mistake as soon as he comes in is not his particular forte either.
  6. Ah yes Eck...next we get to play the Toronto Invalids. I have never seen such a group of broken down derelicts on one team. Tulo and Donaldson hardly ever play. Morales is an old broken down train wreck. They have Martin playing all over the place because he can at least get out to the field without limping out there and they can't even name any starter for any game with us! All the broken down wrecks still playing are part of the problem with the current MLB.
  7. Hey don't knock it...its a steady gig.
  8. Yea but he's dead slow now. He would never have been an infielder at that pace. They would have turned him into some sort of OFer or a 1st baseman. So however slow he was, it wasn't this slow. On reflection, that play he made at 2nd the other night were he just stood there and let the ball play him, I suspect is because he simply does not have the ability, the physical dexterity to move to the baseball at this point with that knee. Who knows if he will ever have it again.
  9. One thing you can say for nunny is that there is no quit in the guy. But the way he moved after that ball at 3rd was telling. He can move on the base paths once he gets going. But the stop and go, the quick acceleration required to play infield...just isn't there and may never be there again. Might not be there for Pedey when he comes back either.
  10. Nunny still just can't move. He might never move in the field again as he once did and he never was that much of a fielder.
  11. Good thing Gallo didn't kill somebody in his own outfield.
  12. Da Rangers....what a s*** show....I swear to God.
  13. Moreland wanted to hit a HR there and paid for it.
  14. Finally.....Colon is not really throwing anything. Yes the pitches are down but they don't really have anything on them. Just got to go down and get them, like Beni did.
  15. I have no idea what the Sox are trying to do with Colon. They are trying to force the issue with him which is the last thing you want to do. Its like trying to force the issue with CC. Good luck with that. Colon gives you pitches to hit if you just stay on them and go with them like Beni did. Beni went all the way to one knee but the hard part was getting down to the ball, not hitting it once you were there.
  16. But here comes X again. This guy has just been unreal the last few weeks.
  17. That was a funny kind of a awing for JD. He usually would have just gone with that pitch and dumped it into RF.
  18. There was a time when there was palpable dislike between AL owners and NL owners and it filtered down to the players. I don't think we will see ASG's played that way again though the MLB all star game is the only one that even resembles the game it honors.
  19. Joey Refrigerator Gallo gets wheeled back to the dugout after having his double doors blown off.
  20. The whole three days has turned into a circus. Not interested.....glad for the good teams to have the rest going down the stretch and that is about all I can say for it.
  21. Colon probably likes these road blues. Sort of looks svelte...like a porpoise wearing a blue t-shirt.
  22. Five more games and he is sitting for three days. Sox have Happ and Borucki back to back Friday and Saturday. I would have let him see Colon and rested him for Happ on Friday. Play him for the last two games into the break and then off three straight days.
  23. I would have let Devers hit against Colon...good experience for him and with Sale going I am not sure the Rangers have an answer unless body parts start flying off Sale on the mound.
  24. Even recognizing that some pitchers will abuse JBJ if he is always looking to go opposite field, at least it gives him a shot. The pitching is generally so awful that its hard for many of these guys to pound any part of the zone consistently. Its hard for them to keep from throwing it into the press box! Jackie should be looking for pitches that he can take the opposite way. It is almost impossible to pull your head off, have your shoulders fly open, or get your hips out ahead if you are trying to go opposite field. It even can be less punishing to be late to the hitting zone if you are trying to go the opposite way, another problem JBJ has. All of these negative traits are traits JBJ has shown as he has about the noisiest constantly changing swing I have ever seen. In fact, if he had not had spurts of going the opposite way, he would STILL be muddling around with a .189 BA and any sort of slugging % that would matter would seem entirely out of reach for JBJ this year anyway. So IMO, JBJ should just constantly look to go opposite field. Take his lumps when a pitcher does not give him the opportunity to do so as that is still better than watching all the various screwball stuff that works its way into his swing if he is not trying to go opposite field.
