    Assuming Lin is still here, this is another example, less than a 4 run lead, even for 1 inning, Cora is not going to up his defense choosing instead to make sure he gives himself every chance to score more runs if he has to do so.

    Not many guys able to play as many games as Martin at 35, catch, play 3rd and the OF all in one season. That is just ridiculous. But the Jays are so screwed up that they toss Martin in at 3rd and OF because there is nothing else they can do. My God that guy deserves a massive bonus this year. No matter what they are paying him, its not enough.

    Perfect throw from Martin....dropped of course. f***ing Jays are so bad. Martin, Hernandez, Pillar and Smoak and that is it for them and poor Martin is 35 years old.

    Eck trying to find a diplomatic way to call Solarte a POS then gets to watch his fat ass saunter down to 1st not threatening to beat out and break up the DP one single bit....another great example of the sludge filling out ML unis these days.

    The Advanced shift is the only thing truly objectionable. Just restrict shifts to two guys either side of 2nd base. Other than that, put them where you want. The problem with the arguments that "other" team sports allow the defense to position against the offense anywhere where they want is that baseball is the only major team sport where the "object" the ball, starts in the hands of the defense, 100% of the time...in the hands of a pitcher. Now if they want to start playing T-ball in the ML's, then they can position the fielders anywhere they darned well please. Does turning MLB into T-ball make any sense to anybody? Christ I probably should not say that too often. Some nitwit at MLB headquarters will suddenly decide that its a great idea.

    I have not seen strike 2 to Mookie called a strike all year from any ump.

    Well I hate to bust balloons around here, but I said it at the time, giving Swi the Sox bullpen game was NOT a vote of confidence from Cora. It was just the opposite. Cora is almost going to treat this like Swi is an emergency catcher and THAT is what Cora thinks of him. Hope Sandy survives it. IMO, Cora is going to take Sandy out from behind the plate when he absolutely has to do it.

    Holt did what Holt can do. But I simply do not know why Gibby did not use the Center Field overshift instead of just allowing Holt to bounce the ball through Shortstop. He should have challenged Holt to hit the ball hard someplace, over the shift which he has not been doing. Clearly with Mookie on, the Hit and Run was very much a possibility. The only downside is if Mookie gets to 3rd your guy on that side of the infield has got to get over to 3rd or Mookie is going to round it and challenge Home.

    I actually don't know why anybody would ever give Holt a hole on the left side of the infield. but its Gibby and the Jays...so there ya go.

    This is just so good. Swi kills our starter who was just cruising and the pen chokes it up. Just perfect. Well we can always wait for JBJ to remember he is supposed to go oppo or hope Lin gets another hit today or the usual Mookie/JD/XB bail us out crew.

    Geez we are not going to leave Kelly in to try for the reverse cycle. Heck the Jays don't have a HR off him yet today.

    Oh good...lets have JD run into the LF grandstand wall of death out there to make it a perfect day. That is where swi should be. I would sacrifice him in an instant.

    Geez players are dropping like flies. Gorgeous day...perfect sky for reading the baseball for plays in the field. Great background for hitting and its like somebody cursed these poor guys.

    Good thing the ASB is coming up cause Hembree is going to turn into a pumpkin real soon. GET A RELIEF PITCHER DD! Where is splinter when I need him.

    I don't want to guess, but the way he was stretching I think that was the surgery leg. Might be why they are taking no chances. I would not let him throw like that either. OK so maybe ankle instead of knee. I would guess both got stressed.

    Will they ever stop playing Swi out of position or will they keep doing it until he kills himself or somebody else? This has been a terrific game so far.
