  1. If someone has cheered for that awful organization and it's continuing poor management for all these years... I'm not going to assume they are too smart, lol.
  2. It's funny to me that baseball really has the most competitive balance. The NFL should, with how it's run and it's salary cap... but with the NFL you could about narrow the Super Bowl teams down to 4 teams before the season even starts. I've not seen anyone good at predicting what MLB teams will have good years or not. I think the many many things that have to go right to win games in baseball, the large number of games, and the detailed skill required to be successful at baseball, keep it very competitive for all teams every year. I would like to see something in place so that MLB teams have a little less turnover. It would more fun to be a fan if the roster didn't look completely different every year.
  3. I know I'll never have to worry about what I would do in that situation, lol.
  4. Here Here!!!! I'm getting pretty anxious. I'm putting the finishing touches on my back patio... kinda' my new Sox shrine / man-cave. Very excited to break it in with the 2015 season.
  5. Bostons bats vs. Felix ...... vs..........Seattle's bats vs. Porcello,,,,,, I don't mind the match-up. Does Felix have the edge, sure.... but that could be said for 95% of teams or pitchers he goes against.
  6. I appreciate my contributions being recognized !
  7. Amen to this! I think Vazquez can be a really good catcher for the Sox for the future. I see no reason to hold onto someone based on projections if it stood in the way of proven elite pitching.
  8. Fred, a700..... what are you talking about ' not giving Cherington a free ride ' or ' not accepting his moves like some fans ', While I think you guys are great and are a couple of my favorite posters..... just what do you think you're relationship with the front office is? I'm just joking with you a bit, so feel free to be defensive, but not overly as I'm just having fun.
  9. You know I think Hamels makes us a serious contender, so I'll break ranks and say I would be all for trading Betts, Swihart or any prospect. I remember how recently popular it was to say never trade Iglesias, Middlebrooks, Bradley Jr, Xander etc...... over the past few years. I'd always trade a long shot for a sure thing.
  10. A lot of you have written the team off, I think that's a mistake. Am I confident they will win the AL east, no. But as the roster sits..... I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they did. The one thing being a baseball fan, specifically a Red Sox fan, should teach us is that you just never know.
  11. Merry Christmas to all. Trusting you have a great day! God bless.
  12. Ha! That made me smile.
  13. I certainly would like to still see upgrades in our rotation....... but let me ask you this, as it is right now- how woukd you compare our starting rotation to the other AL East teams? Who in the AL East has a far better rotation top to bottom?
  14. I just really wonder what the real goal of the front offics is. If they want to be better than last year, depend heavily on luck to get into the post season...... then I doubt they add another arm. If they really want to make a serious title run they will find a way to add an ace. Or, I wonder if they let the current roster play into the season to find out if there is any lightening in a bottle, and decide around trade deadline if an ace trade should be done then.
  15. I'd be lying if I said his health wasn't a concern for me also.... but really with the exception of last year he's done a good job of staying on the field. 2010-2013 he averaged 138 games a year. The last 5 years Pedroia averaged 134, Ortiz 132, and Napoli 124. So let's hope he is healed up with essentially missing all last year. But like I said his health does concern me.
  16. I'd kinda hate to see Victorino go. While there is a log jam of outfieders, he is the most proven talent we have in the out field. And When you look at our potential line up.... Shane Victorino is the one true lead off hitter we have. He has had time to get healthy and will be playing for a contract....... getting rid of him would be a mistake.
  17. I needed a break from here because it felt like there was a group that would defend everything the FO did and even more annoying to me was the group that was negative about everything all the time. I prefer to live in the middle.
  18. I'm watching the game! Been watching most of them all year- I had just needed a break from these threads for a while. This is a fun game today so far.
  19. I really feel Xander should have made a play on that.
  20. I'm going to fly to Boston and punch the next guy that does another senseless head first slide.
  21. Not sure what Dustin is upset at.
  22. Starting to look like Cherington may be coming down to earth.
  23. Doesn't it feel like we're losing? I keep being surprised were tied.
  24. Yep, they or sure saved money by not signing him..... you can see the savings in action.
