    I don't understand why everyone wants Quentin. Is it just because he's the next biggest name after Beltran? Because a guy who plays right field poorly and hits righties much better than lefties does not seem to fit our need for a corner outfielder who hits lefties well.

    The people who vote on the Cy Young Award are not going to vote a player who is 6th in ERA and 12th in WHIP ahead of a player who is 2nd in both those categories. Do you have a valid reason for why B-R's WAR forula is junk or is that just a throw away comment?

    That's fair enough, I felt the same way when the Red Sox traded Renteria after a year and he played well for Atlanta.

    Lester is 4-1 with a 1.22 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, .124 BAA and a no hitter against the Royals.

    WEEI just reported that Sutton will in fact be the one called up. So much for a trade being in the works.

    Any regrets over the Nady, Marte trade with the pirates? I was just checking out the leader boards for the NL and was surprised to see Jeff Karstens second in the NL in ERA and 3rd in WHIP. Daniel McCutchen is also doing quite well and Jose Tabata has had mixed results but is still just 22.

    Can't wait to have Lester back. Even though this is his first start back, this may be the most lopsided pitching matchup we have all year.

    Just because someone pitched terribly doesn't mean that they gave up rockets. With the way Rivera was pitching, he's lucky he only gave up 4 singles, although the line drive to end the inning would have been extra bases if it got by Teixeira. You admit his location was poor and his movement was off. That basically means Rivera was throwing 91 mph straight fastballs down the middle as the graphic indicates. That's terrible pitching, even if it was a rare bad performance from Rivera.

    Are you really criticizing Tito for not taking out Wakefield earlier with an 8 run lead? That is absolutely the right move to try to get the most out of your starter in the blow out game. No use in using bullpen arms when you don't have to.
