    Ugh, I have the Yankees announcers. As soon as Crawford came up Michael Kay went into a winded explanation of how terrible he's been this year and how his stats are somehow inflated. You could tell he was waiting to do that for a while. I'm sure he'll do the same for Lackey tomorrow.

    I don't think that would make sense for next spring. There are A TON more quality starting pitchers than there are relief pitchers on the market after this season.

    I want to beat the Yankees because they're the Yankees but there really isn't all that much pressure. We're 8-1 against them, we have a 99.9% chance of making the playoffs and whether we have to face Texas or Detroit with Velander pitching twice is pretty much a wash in my mind. Plus there is a slight benefit to being in second place in August and September, we'd get a crack at the waiver wire before the Yankees. I just hope the Yankees keep things interesting so we're playing meaningful games up until the end of the season. Teams that play out the end of the season without any urgency don't tend to do well in the playoffs.

    There's a ton of good options out there. Sabathia, Buehrle, Jackson, Wilson. I imagine we'll acquire whichever pitcher has the most reasonable demands and then stock up on a couple low risk, high reward gusy like Bedard, Duchscherer, Webb, Wang, etc.

    Bedard's a free agent next year. We'll be involved in the Sabathia sweepstakes to drive up the price on him if nothing else.
