I figured Bedard would struggle a little. The Mariners skipped rehab starts to have him pitch in a major league game before the trade deadline.

To add some excitement to the home stretch of the season, I came up with the dumb idea of starting an Erik Bedard DL pool. Here are the terms. Anyone who wants to participate can select the date that they believe Bedard will go on the DL this season. Whatever poster guesses the closest date to the actual date that he's placed on the DL will get to select my avatar for a week. BUT, if I make the closest guess to the actual date that he goes on the DL, everyone who participated has to use an avatar of my chosing for a day. In the case of a tie, the poster who selected the closest date before the date he was placed on the DL would be the winner. If he stays healthy the entire rest of the year, we as Red Sox fans win because that means John Lackey's not our 3rd starter. It's really a win-win. Any takers? My guess is August 16th.
