Now you're completely missing the point. Gambling isn't the issue, there are tons of players who gamble. Participating in illegal, multimillion dollar gambling rings after the commissioner has explicitly asked him to stop and he has said that he would stop is the issue. Even if you ignoring his previous history of ignore the commissioner, that alone would be enough to warrant a suspension.

I agree, typical home poker games are not at all dangerous. I've participated in many myself. But I imagine multimillion dollar games with security and people bumping lines off the table are just a little bit different than the games we're used to.

I'll assume you mean Timlin and if that's the case he used Timlin twice. One was an 11-3 blowout at the time and in the other game he was the 7th pitcher of an 11 inning game. If that's the "worst" decision he's made in the playoffs then he's a damn good manager.

There's a lefty up and he's our only lefthanded reliever available.

This is what Selig is trying to protect MLB from. It's not gambling that's the issue, it's running and participating in illegal gambling that could put players in compromised positions. Toby McGuire recently had to pay back $300,000 that he won at one of these illegal poker games and that kind of money or physical threats could have some influence over baseball players.
