I'm making the thread now. I'm going out later, and I'm not sure if I'll be back in time for the game. So, here we go.
It's safe to say that in the eyes of many, the Oakland Athletics will always be known as The Moneyballers, or just Moneyball. Billy Beane will forever be confused with Brad Pitt. But that's okay. This year, the system is not working out well. The team is mediocre, and buried in "50 feet of crap" (as he says in the movie) below the rest of the AL West (except Seattle). They got rid of everybody that meant anything to them: Donaldson, Cespedes, Lester, Samardzija, Moss, Norris, you name it. Now, they are left with Lawrie, Vogt, and Reddick, as well as a bunch of young no names that can't do jack s*** just yet, including Marcus Semen.
Not only is the team mediocre, their Moneyball methods are now mediocre. Have you heard of the way in which the Sox scouted Mookie? They showed up at his high school, took him out of his lunch period, and had him take a diagnostic test to see if he was mentally prepared for big league situations. So, yeah, let's go.
