  1. I'm not trying to defend him. I was not aware of all this. Show it to me and I'll examine it and reassess my opinion. I'm very open-minded
  2. I know. I was trying to discover if she thinks everybody is guilty by association with the Astros, or if there was a concrete example of various players cheating. The video she attached was pretty damning, but I want to gather more evidence before I rush to judgment.
  3. Don't you think that comment was a little uncalled for? Now that I have some evidence, I'll look into it, and let you know my reaction.
  4. Like I said, show me something in the report that proves he is as guilty as Cora and I will gladly change my opinion on him. He's a personal hero of mine. That won't change, but I can be disappointed in something he did. I'm not familiar with the report so if there's something damning about him in there, please point it out to me
  5. Precisely. If our front office hires him back, I will lose a great deal of respect for the organization
  6. He wasn't organizing it. I haven't read the report, because quite frankly, I'm not interested in that, but if I do read it, or if somebody else points out to me something that directly incriminates Springer, my opinion of him will change. My point about Cora not wanting to come back still stands, however. Why is everybody so certain he's going to want to come back?
  7. I don't want Cora back, because of what he is associated with in Houston. And I'm not convinced he would even want to come back
  8. I would have loved to be the accountant that performed those write-offs
  9. I do see the logic behind Jacko's post in the sense that the MLB needs this to survive, I'm just not interested in any sort of truncated season with weird rules and weird ballparks. But that's just me. I have no say in the final decision
  10. If the Little League complex in Williamsport had more than 1 MLB capable field, I'm sure that would be an option, as would the Field of Dreams complex in Iowa, were it finished
  11. Too much of a hassle. Is it really worth it? No, if you ask me. I would rather wait until 2021 and have a normal season with no restrictions
  12. I wouldn't call this a brawl, thanks to the calmness of my response, as well as others, like Dewey and MVP. I love that analogy, though!
  13. That doesn't make responding with more political comments any better. You could have just as easily ignored it and moved on with your day. In case you hadn't noticed, there's not a ton of baseball to talk about right now. Most of us here would rather not talk about anything at all than talk politics, considering that repeated political rhetoric is a bannable offense. We have established that COVID-19 thread as the one place where we can temporarily blow off some steam and frustration. Feel free to go there and debate with others about your views. Most of the people over there seem to share some of the same general ideologies as you, so you'll fit right in. You seem to only be personable to those that agree with you, or at least that's what you've showed all of us in this thread over the course of today. And I would appreciate it if you stop calling me inexperienced and naive. Your eagerness to go straight to insulting me is very alarming, and while you are entitled to think of me as inexperienced and naive, saying such things is very insulting and unwarranted, especially considering that I've been interacting with you in a very reasonable and respectful manner. Have I not?
  14. What exactly regarding what I am saying are you taking offense to? We have rules here. If you want to talk politics, go to the politics thread, it's that simple. I'm not the first person to tell you that today. That should say something
  15. Look dude, I showed you nothing but respect and tried to have a reasonable debate with you. I even said I understood where you're coming from. Feel free to hate Communism, but the minute you bring that stuff on here, people are going to call you out for it. All I'm saying is that keep that away from this place. And calling people names is your go-to when somebody disagrees with you? You definitely aren't the only one here like that, and that's sad. We can't have rational discussions anymore
  16. It shouldn't matter how insidious it is. You should let people feel the way they feel. My generation is much more tolerant of that kind of stuff, and communism doesn't bother me at all. Based on what he said, it seems like jad simply made a misstatement of fact. Saying he is a communist is a wicked conclusion from that statement, and an unfair assumption to make. Now, if you want to continue this discussion, we can take it to private messages, or to the political thread. But not here
  17. Ok, but going ape s*** on anybody that says something that might come across as communist isn't going to solve anything, nevertheless a harmless stranger on the Internet, doesn't exactly solve the problem, and in fact, is a little bigoted. You're assuming every Communist is as extreme as those people that killed your colleagues. As hard as that was to deal with for you, responding with increased agitation towards somebody that had nothing to do with that is not the way to go.
  18. Who the hell cares if someone is a Marxist? They're entitled to their beliefs. We're not living in the Red Scare anymore
  19. Is every thread on Talksox being politicized now? Sheesh
  20. I am not fond of the idea either, but it just goes back to those with power, money and influence getting access to key resources first. It's a broken system
  21. It basically sums up what I was saying, but when I say it, it's off topic? How does that work
  22. Well if you want to get technical, you could die at any point throughout the day. Might not be directly because of your job, but that risk is always there
  23. In a way, we all risk our lives everyday, even when we're not in a pandemic. Snell's argument is stupid for a number of reasons, but that's the most striking
  24. This Sunday is all pros. I believe it's for $2M for relief. The week after is Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning. I forget how much they will raise for that one. Social distancing will be followed, of course
  25. That's what the golf world is doing. There are televised matches each of the next 2 Sundays with all proceeds going to charity/relief efforts
