You are missing the point. He is not another reliever. He a closer. he is THE closer, IMO these days. He is the best for what he is paid. Closers win games. Closer win POs games. Closers win WS.

IMO Pap deserves that money. He is arguably the best in the position. Lackey, Jenks, Cameron , D-K, etc.? Not even close.

As I said as well, I like Jackson but with a reasonable contract, maybe 1 year and another juicy year option, but no more.

Ohhh... You got me wrong my friend, I meant commit long term contracts in SPs no named Felix, Verlander, Cain, Weaver, etc. I wouldn't commit a lot money and a long term contract in a guy like Jackson, would you? That was the nature of that conversation. Pap is arguably the today's best closer in the game and is only 30.

What other option do we have? If we don't overspent the damn cap, I don't even see that we could set up a 2012 WS contender team. We have a lot of holes to cover and a ridiculous available budget plus some red flags in our current lineup.

Oh E1 boy... As always you are twisting the things around. Epstain is gone because 3 years of horrible and pathetic results. It is not close to be Pap's case. Last four years... Pap's performance as a closer >>>>Epstain's performance as a GM... Comprendes, Mendez? Hell, you really love Theo Epstain. I knew it, but not this much.

Who the hell cares whether he is Mo. or not. He was the best closer we ever had and now is gone. Cherington (or should I say Luchino?) better is cooking something big beside the manager, Sizemore (who sucks) and Theo's compensation.

Trust me, I really hope. But Pap's case seems to me far to be called a good start. We'll see.
