  1. …. on the other hand and IMHO the money that some baseball players make these days is totally insane.
  2. Jacoby Ellsbury is a very good player. Arguably the best leadoff in majors say for the next 3 Y. Does he worth 150 M? Honestly who the hell cares. This is up to NYY owners. These greedy bastards can spend this kind of money with their hands in their hips any given day. Is this contract going to work out for the yankees? who the hell knows…there are plenty of examples of players that performed pretty decent in their late 30's. Ellsbury and eventually Cano will be alright, and both overall deals will be fine IMO.
  3. Sign Granderson and Napoli and call it offseason.
  4. I'd rather Granderson over Ethier any day. Stay away of Kemp and Ethier.
  5. Funny how we as fans overreact when a baseball team "overpays" LOL. If they pay (overpay for us) is because those contracts mean "pennies" for them vs the money they are making/will make. Teams like NYY or LAD among a few others can spend like this any given Sunday. Obviously the NYY haven't finished. The Ells/McCann moves speak volumes: they are on I-want-to-win-now mode. They will land Cano and if you rush me they will land Shoo as well. Do not forget that they still need pitching; no gentlemen, this is just the beginning, their shopping cart is far to be ready. Will they end up with a 300 MUSD payroll? You betcha!
  6. with Hanigan's upside? IDK. I think that Marks's point makes a lot of sense. IMO Hanigan move was a steal.
  7. I really believe that Cano could make that contract work it out. Problem is I don't see Cano taking a 200M/8Y contract.
  8. if he posts your fWAR, bWAR, xWAR, zWAR or whatever in 6Y out of 8 (which is very likely IMO) and the other 2 Y posts a decent WAR above a replacement level player call it deal.
  9. Kind of Mark's move LOL
  10. While I kind of like the AJ signing, I like more this. I only wonder what would we have had to give up to land Hanigan...
  11. Well, we just got a guy who can hit and with power at times but who doesn't walk at all. In Fenway he has a .322/.328 /.424 /.751 line which is pretty decent. Yeah, we overpaid him but the good thing is that it is only a 1 Y contract. He has a 25% CS% career line which is kind of average but last year he posted 33%. It's an OK deal to me after all.
  12. Want to see what they had to give up.
  13. It's not big deal to me the discussion about Cano... Our Offseason is goddamn boring anyway.
  14. I remember the Stanton discussion as well. Not sure but I believe that SFF still see his ass in Sox uniform LOL!
  15. Uffff having Cano in the team would be really, really awesome. Vic-Ped-Cano-Ortiz, arguably the best offensive heart in baseball.
  16. Physical condition? Hell, Cano has a far superior physical condition than Ortiz, Cabrera, Pujols, Konerko, etc. since he is a natural 2B man, and if he stays that way it could help him a lot to stay healthy and perform at an elite level, mostly if you are considering him at 1B and eventually DHing. I could see Cano perfectly posting around Ortiz numbers at 38 YO as well, why not? On the other hand I don't see Cano signing for 200 M. Probably It would be around 250 IMO. Nobody is going to get A-Rod money in the near future IMO.
  17. D-K probably was the reason/pioneer/starter of that Tito's silly 7R rule. LOL. He definitely was one of several reasons we didn't make the POs in those years.
  18. LOL sounds like a movie called "The perfect plan" or something like that. I only would consider a handful of players in order to make that kind of investment. Cano is definitely in my list. Still the money the teams are paying for some baseball players is ridiculous to me but if they can afford them and still full their greedy pockets then I don't see why not pay. Unfortunately I don't see that happening anyway, Mark.
  19. You just have to bitch about people bitching even if they are not bitching at all, don't you?
  20. Hahaha really MVP? Come on man! Get over it! Again, I'm not complaining/bitching or whatever you want to call it at all. I'm happy, trust me, just like you I guess. I'm just pointing out the fact that we missed for almost half of a decade POs. As mi compadre said, It would be just the same if you pointed out other facts like Salty's issue at throwing out base runners or Drew's pathetic O-line in POs although both were big contributors to our World Championship.
  21. While it seems like a pipe dream I love the idea. Plus Cano playing at 1B, would help to keep him healthy for most part of the contract.
  22. Exactly. LOL! Hopefully Salty signs somewhere else.
  23. LOL We have a say here "No todo ha sido miel sobre hojuelas" not sure how to put it in English. But it more or less means that you have to recognize both sides of the coin. Good/Bad times. It was my point.
  24. I'm not bitching at anything. I'm just pointing out that we missed POs for some years even with high payroll teams mainly since our FO did a horrible job at many levels. On the other hand, Yup, 3 WS in 10 years is awesome.
  25. IMO, They will use next year to valorize some young talent XB, JBJ, WM and RL giving them full time jobs. They probably call other young guys like Vasquez giving them some ABs, I don't know. If the things work out well, the future is set, otherwise I have heard that 2015 FA will be better. We'll see.
