  1. Bien!
  2. My bad, Thanks Mike.
  3. USA is not going to be easy for Portugal and Germany. Gahana is not going to be easy either. This is not an easy group at all. If USA wants to advance, they must to win against Gahana and at least tie vs Protugal and do not accept too many goals against Germany.
  4. If Mexico plays the 5th game I will call it WorldCup. We have participated and advanced to the next stage in every Worldcup since USA 94'. Vamos carajo!
  5. Well, these are my predictions. A Brasil, Mexico. B Spain, Netherlands. C Colombia, Japon. D Uruguay, Italy. E France, Ecuador. F Argentina, Nigeria. G Germany Portugal. H Belgium, Russia. Groups of death: G, D, B. In that order. Balanced: H (anyone can win) Unbalanced: F (Argentina and Nigeria will advance easily). Brasil, Argentina, Germany and Spain to semifinals. Brasil wins the Worldcup against Argentina.
  6. Hate to play against the host country, but aside Brasil, Mexico has good chances vs Camerún y Croacia
  7. I clearly remember that we already discussed this with ORS and by the time I showed him the same figure from Frorbes but it was the Red Sox one. That figure showed red numbers. ORS's argument was that it DIDN'T include the TV rights income. While the discussion was totally different the figure and the footnote was the same at the time.
  8. It says "Net of stadium revenues used for debt payments". I understand from this, that part of that "stadium revenue" is used to pay debt payments but doesn't include TV incomes.
  9. Few things. As part of the deal, the rights fee will begin at $85 million in 2013 and will hit $350 million a year by 2042. In addition, Fox paid the Yankees a $400 million one-time fee. Also you have to consider the profit/year they are making since they still hold the 27% of YES. When you sum all the lines, their income look like very juicy. Secondly, and regardless how much is that TV income, they clearly put in the foot notes that the revenue regards only to "stadium revenues" which make me think that you still have to add the TV rights + the Fox fee + annual profit since they still hold the 27% of the RSN.
  10. nope, USD (They signed with Televisa and recently with Univision), reason why I don't think the NYY are only making 200 MUSD via TV .
  11. I'm gonna dig a bit more when I have time but I hardly believe it. Also in the notes they clearly regard the revenues only to "stadium revenues". To put this is context, Las chivas rayadas de Guadalajara (Mexican soccer team) are making around 200 M via TV and they are far to be NYY.
  12. I do not think they are including it. In the notes they only say "Net of stadium revenues used for debt payments." Also, If the income via tickets/beverage/food/etc "stadium revenues" is above TV as some suggest, Do you believe that they are making say… only +-200 M via TV?
  13. Since it is not a public company I have no idea. Sure, forbes provides you a decent outside-in but sometimes their analysis are far to be accurate in real life. Either way… what I understand is that only the on-field product generates 471 in 2012, isn't it?. if so... Aside their players expenses, the other costs are symbolic. Assuming this is right, even a 400 M payroll team is not an issue considering that you still have to add the TV revenue, which I assume is a juicy business. These days a 18%-20% profit business is a very good point of start if you ask me. IMO the nyy business is far above that % the way I see the thing.
  14. If the TV revenue at least matches the "team" revenue (which I doubt it, I believe it is a lot more), then… even a 300 MUSD team is not an issue at all.
  15. Seems like they are not including the TV revenue which is their major income, isn't it?
  16. Are the NYY a public company?
  17. While they have spending limits, do not forget that they are who frequently set the market boundaries. My point all along is that they act like classic rich people. If they badly want something they will get it, no matter what, money can buy almost anything, and if they get tired at some point of it they will replace it just like that and will find a way to be in shape again. They have repeated this, over and over again. It has been the history of their broad success. Hell, I do not have access to their books but I fully believe that even a 300 MUSD payroll team are "peanuts" vs the money they are making in their overall NYY business, so… If I were a NYY fan I wouldn't be worry at all about Ells contract and eventually if they overpay Cano… As I said if something goes wrong, don't worry, They will find a way to be in shape again. IMO they want to win it all in 2014, at whatever cost hahahahahaha
  18. when you have the money, you can.
  19. I've read that they are something around 160 M. They still need a 2B, likely 3 arms in their rotation and probably a couple a of relievers. I don't see how they can keep their payroll below the LT.
  20. Yup, this is why short/mid/long contracts attached with a lot money doesn't matter that much to teams like the NYY if a deal doesn't work it out. They will always find a way to be competitive since they have a lot of money. It's been their insignia building teams. Some are saying that JE is simply a caprice/marketing strategy; while I believe it is true, they have signed a very good player.
  21. Say they land Cano as well... Where in the hell are you going to get pitching? Kuroda? IMO there's nothing left in that tank. Tanaka? If so (I doubt it) he is a mystery at MLB level. CC? He is done IMO. You just can't put all the weight on Nova's shoulders. Also you need a closer. Seems to me like the 2011 Red Sox.
  22. yup, it can go to both directions. Only time will tell.
  23. …. on the other hand and IMHO the money that some baseball players make these days is totally insane.
  24. Jacoby Ellsbury is a very good player. Arguably the best leadoff in majors say for the next 3 Y. Does he worth 150 M? Honestly who the hell cares. This is up to NYY owners. These greedy bastards can spend this kind of money with their hands in their hips any given day. Is this contract going to work out for the yankees? who the hell knows…there are plenty of examples of players that performed pretty decent in their late 30's. Ellsbury and eventually Cano will be alright, and both overall deals will be fine IMO.
  25. Sign Granderson and Napoli and call it offseason.
