  1. Neither of them is a #2 nor #1. We still need 2 arms.
  2. Wonder when are they going to address a #1 and #2 pitcher....
  3. Jajajajaja You are so funny my friend.
  4. Speaking for myself, this was terrible managed all around. On the other hand, this hasn't finished, but IMO teams like Reds, Phillies and FAs which the Red Sox are supposdly talking to have increased their power to negotiate. Now we most likely going to give up prospects like Betts and XB and/or overpay if we want to land two solid SPs... hopefully I eat my words.
  5. Just noticed on FB that Ben is sending "reflexive" messages to the red sox nation about Jon's departure LOL! He should shut the f*** up and get some pitching already.
  6. Not sure but in all places a lot of people of media are saying that the Red Sox just conduct the worst negotiation in the history of negotiations.
  7. This is not how sport teams work, this is how every enterprise works. When a monster/trascendental deal is in place, ownerships are who make the last call. This is on JH and Luchino all the way, for good or for bad. The Panda signing. The HR signing. The epic fail for Lester. The trade with LAD, etc. GM's role is to make the diligences and suggest, that's all. I only wonder whether BC told to the owners that the 70 M offer was a ridiculous approach at the time or not.
  8. I rather trade for Cueto than Hamels, but I honestly don't see Reds trading him unless it is for a haul of prospects around Cespedes or something.
  9. So basically what you are saying is that Ben's role is reduced to minor moves and makimg diligences than making big decisions/moves? @mvp
  10. Nope... for completely misread his value at the time.
  11. I can see JH and Luchino saying to Ben... "Now that Lester's gone... what is your plan B Ben? Overpay Scherzer or Shields... or trade for Hamels/Cueto for a haul of prospects?."
  12. At this point both Reds and Phillies have increased their negotiation power if any team wants to trade for Hamels or Cueto.
  13. if we want either of them, we should be prepared to see XB or Betts go... Lester collaterals.
  14. Wonder who is the responsable on this "misread value". If this is on Ben, he must go. This thing, should't take it lightly IMO.
  15. They could have signed him before, for a lot less money and they didn't. Then they entered in a bidding war they knew they wouldn't win without putting 150 M on the desk. They put 135 M... Almost the double of that 70 M offer and still wasn't enough. Somebody explain to me like a 10 YO, how a pitcher gets the double of value in a couple of months. A 150 M contract is overpaying, and that is what the Cubs did... But do not fool yourself, our FO let this happen and knew in what they were getting into when they cheat Lester with a 70M offer (... or at least I want to think that). What happens with Lester from now, is irrelevant for us, but yeah...Lester will most likely decline and again.. This will be on Theo.
  16. Good point. Seems like only DET is seriously for him. Should we start a bidding war?...can we win this time?
  17. Probably interested teams will start at that amount. Something around 175-200 gets the deal done IMO. The 1 M question is... Can we afford that amount of money?
  18. At this point my 200 M take it or leave it offer seems like massively overpaid offer to me LOL! I really really really doubt he gets more than 200M; and if so, I do not see a 50 M-value + gap between him and Lester by any means. Agree, we should go after him or at least try... Seems like only Detrot is seriously in the pursuit. The bad thing is that probably more teams will be added in that wagon. Things for the Sox could turn complicated in the pursuit of elite pitching, we'll see though.
  19. Agreed. Nothing more to say... This FO screwed this big time. Wonder if they are interested in pursuit Scherzer.
  20. Is anybody still thinking that Scherzer is going to get more than 200M? I really doubt it.
  21. Seems like LAD are officially out too.
  22. If the proposals are similar and Lester ends up in Chicago, that 70 M offer will speak volumes.
  23. Thing is, with Lester aboard, the offseason for us would be most likely easier since a lot of pitchers still out there and we will have more room to negotiate better.
  24. Me too hahaha.
  25. On ESPN deportes are saying that Lester will pick up Boston if Cub's ofer is close to the Red Sox. I'm not sure what "close" mean, but seems like Boston at least has the edge. We'll se though.
