  1. It doesn't work that way. A 2-1 game is a completely different situation scenario moving forward. What is the record of the Sox after 7 innings and winning?
  2. No? Look at Montgomery's OPS against with RISP and without RISP.
  3. ...but some say clutch hitting/pitching doesn't exist lol
  4. I just arrived home and just grabbed a beer and put on the TV the game again. My point stands. I would have PRed Dalbec for Duran. Duran would have scored, and the game at that point would have been 2-1 and still 2 outs with XB coming AB (with RISP) and the momentum at its pick but that's history. We won anyways which is great, but in the later scenario the drama would have likely been avoided. Said that Cora is a great manger, I have said that several times, but still, we can point out his decisions here and there and it doesn't mean we are complaining/ranting/bashing/bitching either LOL
  5. Well here's my ERA & Run Prevention Estimator (RPE) Scale which apply to ERA, FIP, xFIP, SIERA, etc. Under 3 Excelent to Elite —No. 1 Between 3.5 and 3 Very Good —No 2. Between 3.5 and 4 Good — No 3. Between 4 and 4.5 Mediocre/Average —No 4. Above 4.5 Below Average/ Bum —No. 5 Said that, this is Porcello based on RPE: ERA 4.40 (No 4) FIP 4.06 (No 4) xFIP 4.04 (No 4) SIERA 4.1 (No 4) He is consistently a No. 4 pitcher based on RPE; i.e. Mediocre/Average. Based on fWAR he has a 29.6 fWAR through 11.4 years of service, i.e. 2.6 fWAR/year. A 2.6 fWAR puts your pedigree as a SP in the 5th level out of 7 levels in the fangraphs' rule-of-thumb chart; i.e As Solid Player. A Solid Player is not Good and way far to Very Good which IMO those levels are among AllStar, Superstar and MVP. It could be translated as Average/Mediocre. MVP 6+ Superstar 5-6 fWAR Allstar 4-5 fWAR Good Player 3-4 fWAR Solid Player 2-3 fWAR Role Player 1-2 fWAR Scrub Player 0-1 fWAR As I said, Rick Porcello was/is not a Good pitcher by any means and way, way far to Very Good.
  6. Also it doesn’t matter if you are in a winning team. If you suck you suck. If you are good you are good. It’s that simple. Porcello was mediocre most of the times regardless the team he played for.
  7. A 4.6 ERA career pítcher is not a number 2, neither a No. 3 nor a good pitcher. Simply no way—even if you try to demerit ERA. It is not a small sample either. He is mediocre; average at very very very best. He is a No. 4. AND if you rush me, a No. 5. It doesn’t matter how you slice it.
  8. I think he does Max. Tomo I will watch the play again though.
  9. Relax. Lol! I don’t want to scream to nobody. This was a great night. He scores and easily after that hit moon. Easy.
  10. I don’t think you guys are getting the point. If Cora PH Duran, he would have scored in the 7th and the game would have been 2-1 at that point with still 2 outs, with RISP, and with the momentum in effect.
  11. You wouldn’t need that. You would have been winning entering the 8th. Said that we somehow won this one and is all that matters.
  12. I would specially knowing Dalbec wouldn’t have been AB again.
  13. … and with X at 2nd. We better win this.
  14. Still Barnes should have SO Gardner and he didn’t. Said that, yeah I hate this format.
  15. In that moment it would have been a 2-1 game going to the 8th. That is another kind of game moving forward.
  16. He should have PRed Dalbec with Duran.
  17. In all fairness while Cora most of the times takes good decisions, he wasn’t that sharp tonight. He could have done better here and there specially when Dalbec was at 2B with 2 outs.
  18. Yeah but I would have PH in the first place, but it worked anyways.
