  1. Who are you?? Pls see Welcome to Talksox forum.
  2. Just to be clear. I absolutely despise having Nap and Salty back to back. It makes me want to vomit.
  3. Pedroia 32 BB 30 K. Come on man. He's having an outrageous season.
  4. Ortiz bomb time over the monster
  5. Yeah but those pitchers who hit right and throw left are a lot tougher on Nava.
  6. Haha Eck was telling a story the other day about how someone called him Dennis Upper Deckersley because he gave up moon shots hahaha
  7. Carp was an excellent pick up. He goes oppo so nicely too, really takes advantage of Fenway.
  8. Dempster hasn't looked good for a while.
  9. Pls throw the ball Drew. Thx.
  10. Middlebrooks doesn't hit enough to merit 1B. Cecchini doesn't have enough pop right now to play a corner OF IMO, but he certainly could develop 20+ HR pop and if so, you throw him out there. If he can develop into a .305/.395/.490 hitter with 18-22 HR, you've got yourself Kevin Youkilis 2.0 (in his prime) and you can easily stick that production at 1B so long as you gain a little hr pop elsewhere (I'm lookin at you, Mike Stanton).
  11. He is Will Middlebrooks in RF. The question is, if the Sox retain Cecchini, Bogaerts, Bradley, Lavarnway, and also have Pedroia in the lineup, that's 5 of 9 guys who will OBP 375-.400+. So, do you give up a little OBP for some 25+ HR pop in Middlebrooks and Brentz?
  12. Pedroia's 162 game average is eerily similar to Jeter. Pedey: .304/.372/.460/.832, 16 HR, 78 RBI, 46 2B, 2 3B, 19 SB Jeter: .313/.382/.448/.829, 16 HR, 79 RBI, 33 2B, 4 3B, 22 SB Jeters kept it up his entire career, but the way that Pedroia can tolerate pain and play through minor injuries, effectively at that, I can see him playing until he's 38-40 and getting to 3,000 hits.
  13. I don't have the stats to back me on this, but using the eye test I'm pretty sure Salty has struck out 39 times in one game at some point.
  14. And you should just edit your original post rather than creating new posts every time you update. That way you'll have the updated version easy to find.
  15. Very torn between Nomar 99, Nomar 2000. I mean .372/.434/.599!!
  16. First Base: Jimmie Foxx 1938: .349/.462/.704 (!!!!) 50 HR, 175 RBI.
  17. lol @ Tex's grand "slam". http://www.hittrackeronline.com/overlay/overlay_1370365034_930619641.jpg It went a whopping 344 feet and would have been a flineout at Fenway (or most any other park). Image is of his HR with Fenway Park overlayed.
  18. I don't think his defense is going unnoticed. I just think Iglesias's defense is a once in a lifetime glove. I'm fine with playing Iglesias at SS vs LHP exclusively, plus Util and a couple random games to give Drew a day.
  19. Lets just be happy that the team is 12 games over .500 and first in the AL East when Gomes has struggled. He's going to turn it around and he's going to start crushing lefties. He's made a career out of it. In terms of Iglesias, he needs to, at the very least, platoon with Drew. Drew is hitting .143 with a .504 OPS vs LHP, and has K'd 19 times in 49 AB (a tick under 40%). And to be honest, Drew is hitting just .213/.316/.373. Is that really a line from a one year guy that is going to keep you from developing a defensive wizard who is crushing right now?? I say start Iggy everyday. His K rate is not awful but his BB rate is horrifying. He's going it regress, that much is imminent, but even with his regression, he can still make productive outs, learn pitch recognition at the big league level, play 3-4 days a week and save more runs than Drew creates
  20. Buch has so much movement on all of his pitches that he can get away with missing his spots a bit more then other pitchers.
  21. Meh. 116 wRC+ last year, AL League average 1B was 110 wRC+. He was only slightly better than league average.
  22. Based on the Red Sox last year, Tex and Youk this series, and about a thousand other examples, I think it's pretty clear that players returning from injury do not often return to their career numbers very quickly at all. They often struggle as much/more than their replacement counterparts, at least initially.
  23. Teixiera and Youkilis are gonna help so much!!!!!!!! .....2 for 18, 12 K's.
