  1. The question is whether you'd take Webster over our south paws
  2. Angels gave Doubront life. 62 through 4 is a 15 pitch/inning pace which gets him through 7 at 105
  3. Napoli has been so worthless this year. What is it with Sox 1B that just lose all pop once signing with us??
  4. Sure would be nice to see Ellsbury start to flash some HR power here
  5. Who would Gallardo replace in the rotation though? You're making a trade just to make a trade, he's a wash with Dempster or Doubront and is another guy that I'd rather roll the dice with Webster or RDLR rather than giving up something for him
  6. Wow that was horribly played. Gotta at least jump up and smother that ball with your body
  7. Often times a vote of confidence will pull a player out of a slump, not to mention getting him around guys like Ortiz, Pedroia, et all. Calling him up will be telling him 'hey we know you're better than what you've done so far in AAA, come up here and show what you can do'. Not a bad idea at all IMO
  8. Don't think that much matters for them since there is a huge break right after with the ASB. But, you may be right
  9. I've only just now started to realize just how crap this team is vs LHP right now, particularly with Nava and Salty hitting from the right side.
  10. Orioles lost, good news. Good chance to push the lead to 5.5 over the O's
  11. This team is the least HR reliant team we've had in years, which bodes well for the monstrous parks in the AL West. We will see, hopefully the Sox come out of this at 6-4 or 7-3
  12. Stephen Drew has hit the DL. Seems like an obvious choice to call up Bogaerts and give him a quick taste of the bigs before the ASB.
  13. ChiSox just walked off against the O's!!! 2 outs away from a 4.5 game lead in the East!
  14. And who would that pitcher replace? You've got Doubront and Dempster who are equal to Garza, and Lackey, Buch, and Lester who are all better than Garza. I'm not sure what the purpose of getting a bottom of the rotation starter would be. Particularly when you've got Aceves, RDLR, Webster, Workman, and Ranaudo who all have the ability to fill in.
  15. Butterfield has not had that many guys thrown out at the plate by any means. And this team has scored the most runs in the entire MLB while hitting only an average amount of homeruns (13th in MLB, 9th in AL). Clearly they're doing a good job of being aggressive on the bases without running into a ton of outs. When you're aggressive, you're going to get thrown out some, but you're also going to be able to score a ton of runs without relying on the HR. Give me a team that manufactures runs and is aggressive on the bases over the team that relies on the long ball all day everyday and twice on Sunday. There is no reason to complain about the baserunning on this team at all. It's clearly working very well.
  16. No thanks on Garza. Unless its for a top of the rotation arm (Lee, Price, etc), we should address other needs (power bat would be nice, bullpen arm perhaps). This team doesn't need a whole lot.
  17. Do you really have a problem with Pedroia stealing with Napoli up?? Come on now, there's a difference between sending Victorino with nobody out as Ortiz due up and then letting Pedroia, who has an 81% success rate, attempt to get into scoring position for the middle of the order and a guy who grounds into a lot of DP
  18. Webby at 24 pitches through 2. Helps that the padres are aggressive but he's pitching with good efficiency
  19. Webby looks good. Get him his first win. Leggo!!
  20. Going to be interesting to see if Webster has better luck w Lavarnway behind the plate
  21. Webby's change makes me drool. It's filthy. He needs to mix in a few more 4 seam FBs up in the zone. After seeing 84 fading down and away, 99 at the letters is nearly impossible to hit
  22. Ah doesn't matter, the Rays would never trade inside the division without an outrageous premium.
  23. Yeah I edited my post, I read it wrong. Either way, you're getting a top of the rotation pitcher. I wouldn't add much to a Bogaerts package, but if it was Bogaerts, Brentz, and 1 mid level guy, I'd pull the trigger.
  24. Price isn't a FA until 2016. That's 2.5 years of service, and it's club control, not a contract. By the time he's a FA he will be 31.
  25. I agree that we probably need another stick for LF, unless of course we want to give Bradley the everyday job, which I would be fine with. He is hitting .305/.392/.552 with 7 HR in 42 AAA games this year
