  1. Yep, and he's got another outstanding hitter behind him in Fielder. That's an outrageous 3-4 combo
  2. His 8 HR are not what I expected. But he's got a crazy habit of just playing completely out of his mind in August and September for some reason. Nap 2011 Aug-Sept: .355/.443/.674, 15 HR, 49 G Nap 2012 Sept (injured in Aug): .255/.345/.706, 7 HR, 16 G
  3. You know we're up two, right?
  4. Agree. Roto has people just quitting about June timeframe. H2H is way better
  5. He is slow, but this is different, you can tell its zero effort
  6. Man Nava slumping hard right now too. Shame that Carp is hurt or he'd probably get some PT right now. Nava needs a break. 1 for his last 21 now
  7. Love how Napoli grounds out to one of the least sure handed third basemen and puts less than zero pressure on him to rush it by jogging slower than his HR trot to 1st
  8. We need someone who is going to at the very least give us some innings. Lester is averaging 5.2 IP per start in his last 7 starts. That's ridiculous. Give me Workman, Ranaudo, or Webster in his spot. Maybe they can at least give us a QS every once in a while
  9. Good Lord Ellsbury. Would it kill you to put up a competitive at bat?? That was disgusting. Thank you Victorino.
  10. Please give Workman, Ranaudo, or Webster the next rotation for Lester. And for the love of God, do not exercise his option. At this point, he is what he is. And that is an unacceptable starter
  11. Lester is the worst pitcher on this staff. That's all there is to it.
  12. Uehara, you're up. Looks like he's the first one according to multiple beat writers
  13. All closers are unproven until they are given a chance. You have to give your young kids the chance to take on significant roles or else you will turn into the Dodgers, Angels, and eventually Yankees by overpaying for proven talent that diminishes with age.
  14. Fixed it for you. All the beat writers said "oh they brought in a former closer, this must mean he's replacing Papelbon when he leaves." It was an assumption that never came to fruition because of Jenks being a complete moron (of which we can all agree).
  15. Daniel Bard: 09-11 - 2.88 ERA Jonathan Papelbon: 09-11 - 2.89 ERA Koji Uehara: 2013: 2.10 ERA Junichi Tazawa: 2013: 2.51 ERA Andrew Miller: 2013: 2.77 ERA Craig Breslow: 2013: 3.15 ERA Alex Wilson: 2013: 2.57 ERA The back end of the Sox bullpen is just as strong right now as it ever was. It just needs an adjustment as to the roles.
  16. Jenks and Aceves were both acquired to pitch middle innings, not close. You could make the argument that Jenks was acquired to close after Papelbon left, or you could make the argument that Aceves ended up closing after Papelbon left, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. Jenks never closed, Aceves was never acquired to close.
  17. Only way you can get RDLR up here right now is by DL. He was optioned on Sunday, which means he's only missed 5 days. Once you're optioned, you have to be down 10 days before being called back up unless there is a DL situation. Not sure something isn't physically wrong with Bailey, anyway. Look at his numbers post-DL stint. Pre DL: 1.46 ERA, Opponents hitting .140/.213/.256, 20 K, 4 BB in 12.1 IP. Post DL: 7.20 ERA, Opposnents hitting .316/.422/.737, 10 K, 7 BB in 10 IP. So in 2.1 fewer innings, his K numbers have been cut in half, his BB numbers have doubled, and his avg, obp, and slg numbers have all doubled or close to tripled (SLG). I don't think this is a case of him being able to fix it in low leverage situations. There's another underlying factor here.
  18. I still think the Sox need to call up RDLR right now, move him to the 7th, DL Bailey, have Wilson/RDLR/Breslow for the 7th, Miller/Uehara in the 8th, Tazawa in the 9th, and Morales as your long man. Simply put, that is the best bullpen that the Red Sox can put together right now, and it has a good chance to be elite.
  19. 2013 Yankees: 39-33 through 72 2012 Red Sox: 40-35 through 75 Just sayin....
  20. Bailey hasn't had a clean inning since... wait for it.... APRIL 24TH!!!! He's allowed at least 1 baserunner in every single outing since then. Good job, closer.
  21. Bradley Jr was clocked at like 101 from the OF by Perfect Game. His arm is ridiculous too.
  22. The most frustrating part about last night's loss is that this is a tight, tight division. Farrell knew as well as anyone that Bailey is not even close to getting it done lately. Yet, he still puts him out there with a 1 run lead. It's mind boggling, really.
  23. Oh I have no doubt you're right. He's going to be a superstar, and likely soon. I was just commenting on the little rut he's in, that's all.
