  1. Bogaerts went 2-4 today with a single and another HR. He is now hitting .262/.361/.440. 20 year old SS OPS'ing .801 in AAA. Yes please.
  2. Brutal loss. Can't make a 40 foot toss to 2B?!? Are you kidding me?? Get the win tonight and take 2/3. Geez. Should be a sweep. That was pathetic.
  3. What?? Cecchini is clearly a better prospect. Cecchini has outrageous plate discipline. His wRC+ for the past 2 years was 183 and 198. Middlebrooks doesn't sniff that. And WMB didn't have much power until he was 22 either
  4. Lackey v Weaver tomorrow night. Lackey throwing the hell out of the ball, going against his former team and a perennial ch candidate (albeit not this year as much). Gotta go to tomorrow's game IMO.
  5. Yeah I was thinking if we could go like Cecchini Ranaudo and Brentz or something like that, it may be worth it, but that likely wouldn't get it done
  6. Just curious Fred - why would you think we would be coming down to earth? Went 17-11 in the toughest month on our schedule, and have gone 4-0 in July, so 21-11 (.656 baseball) in our past 32 games. Not to mention we've done this with A. Buchholz making a total of 2 starts and B. Lester throwing to a 6.37 ERA. Now, Buchholz is getting healthy and Lester has started to turn things around over his past couple starts (3.21 era over past 2 starts). If anything, I would think that the past month has been a coming out party showing that this team is for real rather than them coming down to earth. As for Bogaerts, he seems to be in a bit of a rut in his transition to AAA but I have no doubt that he will get out of it very soon. I still think he makes a mid-August debut Also Fred - go to tomorrow's game. Lackey vs Weaver, much better pitching match up
  7. Wonder if the Jays would listen on Bautista? He could be a 3B option
  8. Point blank: 2013 is a competitive bridge year to future sustained success from our farm. I, like many others, am thrilled with the team this year, and I think we can make a deep playoff push. But this isn't the team that were building. The team that were building towards has Bogaerts at SS, Bradley in CF or LF, Webster, Ranaudo, Barnes, RDLR, and Barnes in the rotation or bullpen (not all of them, some will be used for trades and rightfully so). That's the team you build for. We cannot cannot cannot splurge in our pants because we have a good team without clubhouse issues for the first time in the past 5-6 years and go make this a short term run rather than making it a long term sustained run. Do not trade Bogaerts. Do not trade Bradley. We can trade one of the pitchers because they're not all going to pan out and we do have an abundance, but do not overpay for something. Cant find anything on the market? You've got Aceves, Workman, Britton, RDLR, and Webster as rotation and bullpen depth. That's as good as most anything you're going to find on the market without mortgaging the future. Don't. Splurge. Your. Pants.
  9. Yugh. Reading this made me want to vomit. Thankfully, Ben is the GM and not you right now. That's not a personal attack, but if you want give up Bogaerts for anything less than Kershaw or Stanton, you're out of your freaking mind, especially calling Bogaerts a surplus because of a .470 BABIP fueled run by Iglesias. By the way have you noticed that we have Brandon Snyder playing?!? Bogaerts is NOT a surplus
  10. The Red Sox are 20 games over .500. As of right now, they can play .500 baseball and win 91 games this year. Outstanding.
  11. I said it earlier, he reminds me a lot of Youk. Cecchini has a better hit tool (average) and speed. I think Cecchini has power that will develop as he progresses too. He needs to go ahead and start taking some reps at 1B because that's where he's going to wind up if he doesn't get dished.
  12. I'm not saying they do it for that reason, I'm saying they don't let it be a deterrent. And Brandon Snyder says hi.
  13. I would be surprised if anyone gave Ellsbury 100mm. Very surprised actually. With his injury history, now all he really provides is a .300/.360/.420 line with 8-10 HR pop and 45+ SB. Not a 20mm player and who is going to give him more than 5 years with his injury history?
  14. I'm not sure he will get much more than that. Look at Swisher, Upton, and Bourn. All at around the same talent level as Ellsbury, and all got around that money.
  15. As a side note, if Ellsbury only gets around 5/80, I'm not convinced the Sox won't give that to him
  16. Certainly, it's just even more impressive coming against this offense
  17. Need another 2 runs this inning pls
  18. I'll take 6.2 IP, 2 ER from Doubront against that offense all day everyday
  19. This is the first year in a while that I would not be upset if we stood pat (as of right now, obviously things can change with injury). But if we've got Buchholz coming back, Middlebrooks heating up, Webster and De La Rosa on the burner along with Bogaerts, Brentz, and Bradley, there are no glaring needs. I feel like this is a pretty common feeling too
  20. Boy that was the definition of a middle middle fastball
  21. Not only has Napoli not hit a HR since June 1, he has had a total of 2 XBH since then. TWO!!!!! In 95 PA!!!!!
  22. He's a first baseman with a .775 OPS. Not only that, but hes got a .715 OPS against LHP. He's awful.
  23. You're so bad napoli just go away
