  1. Not to mention bobbling a backhand the other day as well.
  2. Because Brock Holt and Brandon Snyder have been studs defensively?? He may not be as good as Iglesias defensively, but he can absolutely get by.
  3. WHAT IS TAKING SO DAMN LONG?!?!? In August: Red Sox 3B have posted a .349 OPS (not OBP, OPS), and a -16 wRC+. Unreal. What the hell are we waiting on?!?
  4. He looks like he's still not warm, to be honest. He came up from Pawtucket as a starter in AAA and had no experience in relief since college, so the whole "get ready in 12 pitches" routine is awfully new to him.
  5. Mike Napoli: 0 for his last 13, 21 runners left on base in that span. That's playstation numbers. In a bad way.
  6. True story. It's a complete joke.
  7. Prediction: Napoli comes up with a chance to do major damage and GIDP.
  8. Workman very clearly pitches better with a starters routine rather than having to get up and quickly get ready.
  9. Damn. Farrell screwed this team so badly this series. So, so badly. It's infuriating. Why in the hell would you freaking start Wright instead of Workman?!? It just makes no sense. And THEN you bring in Workman?? So you dick yourself out of the game and you also dick yourself out of seeing Workman in meaningful relief?? Just disgusting. Horrific.
  10. Holy s*** just get off the team Napoli. Seriously. Just leave. Go away.
  11. Farrell has been a dud all series. Putting Lackey back out for the 7th at 100+ pitches, letting Gomes face a RHP in the 9th with Carp on the bench, starting Wright instead of Workman. He's single handedly screwing this team out of wins.
  12. Farrell has dicked us so damn bad this game. Horrifying management to start Wright
  13. Haha. It wasn't to try to annoy anyone. It was to discuss how good Victorino has been. I didn't want to start another thread when we already had one about him running.
  14. By WAR, Victorino is the #3 RF in all of baseball. Just reminding people that this was not a bad signing at all.
  15. My guess is that they want Workman to work out of the bullpen so they can see if they need to make any more trades (Aug waiver deals). If they start Workman tonight, that's just another 5 days until he can throw again.
  16. It's pretty easy to shut down this offense when your big RH bat (Napoli) goes 0-4 and leaves 6 runners stranded. The Red Sox need a new 3B, and quick. Whether thats Middlebrooks or Bogaerts, it doesn't matter. This team needs a RH stick in the lineup badly.
  17. I would much, much, much rather see the Sox continue to look at Workman, who has been nothing short of outstanding (2.45 ERA in his 3 starts) and has done absolutely nothing to encourage a look at Wright over him.
  18. Ok. The Red Sox had a 3.67 ERA in July, in which Lester and Dempster both had tough starts, Buch wasn't even around, and Workman took 3 starts. Right now, Buch is scheduled to throw off a mound, Workman has shown that he is going to be able to fill in very well, and we acquired Peavy. That's 7 strong starting pitchers right there, once Buch gets back, and 6 even until he doesn't. Even if Lackey went down last night, that still gives them a rotation of Peavy - Doubront - Lester - Workman - Dempster. And that's still a very solid rotation.
  19. You act as though the fact that Doubront is the most reliable is a bad thing. Doubront has a 2.55 ERA over his last 15 starts, covering 92 IP. That's outstanding. It doesn't matter where the production is coming from, so long as you get the production. The Red Sox SP are 3rd in the AL with a 3.83 ERA. That's pretty damn outstanding. The Rays have a 3.78 ERA, for comparative purposes.
