  1. They wouldn't be rushing Bogaerts. He's got 217 PA in AAA this year and has a .291 average with an .856 OPS. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes there are prospects who are ready really really early in their career. Bryce Harper. Mike Trout. Giancarlo Stanton. Manny Machado. Xander Bogaerts fits into that mold. The point is, we've got two options in AAA right now that are hands down better than the 3B we're playing with. And one of them (Snyder) is supposed to be up here to face LHP, and he's not even doing THAT at this point. There's absolutely zero reason that Bogaerts or Middlebrooks isn't up here right now. Brock Holt played a total of 7 games at 3B in his career before being called up to play 3B for the Sox, so don't give me the "his defense needs seasoning" because he's got just as much time at 3B as Holt did.
  2. Honestly, did anyone NOT see that GIDP coming a mile away?
  3. Meanwhile in Pawtucket, Bogaerts went 2-3 in the 1st game of the DH, and 3-4 in the 2nd. EDIT: Don't know why I typed Middlebrooks. It was Bogaerts.
  4. Nava's baserunning lately has just been absolutely terrible. Like, head scratching bad.
  5. Am I the only one scratching my head as to why we don't have runners on 2nd and 3rd right now??
  6. A left handed pitcher that pounds the zone is giving us problems!? Well I have never. Well, at least there are no RH options in AAA that could help with this gaping hole. Oh wait....
  7. Well this looks like an infuriating game. Going to study.
  8. Not that I know of, and particularly not now that he's not even starting against a LHP
  9. Plus Snyder has no options so you would have to DFA him, and he would be off the 40 man as well.
  10. That's not an issue in the least. Bailey is still on the 15 day DL. Throw him on the 60 day and you've got a spot instantly.
  11. So....on a team that is incredibly susceptible to strike throwing LHP, we are going to use Holt over Snyder?? I am baffled as to why the hell we even have Snyder up here at all.
  12. Bogaerts in the PawSox lineup tonight. Unfathomable. Get your damn head out of your ass Cherrington. This is ridiculous. Call up Middlebrooks or Bogaerts.
  13. They actually have to pass 4 teams to get into the WC. BAL, CLE, KC, and Oak/Tex. Passing everyone but Oak/Tex (who are tied right now in the AL West) will only put them into 3rd place in the WC. And they are 7 back on Texas and Oakland.
  14. I know it's still crazy early, but.... the Yankees Elimination # (for the AL East) is 36. Any combo of 36 Red Sox wins or Yankees losses knocks them out of the AL East running. Obviously they're pretty much out as is (11.5 back), but it's just nice to throw that E# next to their name.
  15. If this is the case, I really like the Sox chances against the Orioles in a 1 game playoff at Fenway, considering we can either throw Peavy or Buchholz and they match up extremely well against any Orioles pitcher. The Orioles have no good starting pitchers. But regardless, I still think the Sox win the East.
  16. Red Sox: 96-66 Rays: 92-70 Orioles: 87-75 Yankees:82-80 Jays: 78-84
  17. He didn't understand the question. He thought it read "Will they be the WC and if so would they play in the WC play in game?" He didn't realize BigPapi asked "If so, WHO would they play in the WC game"
  18. Pointing out his 22+ infield hits as well as his .480+ BABIP is not cynical.
  19. I am going to be PISSED if the lineup that VA posts today doesn't have Bogaerts slotted as the 3B. He's got a 1.016 OPS vs LHP this year. Lets go, FO. Get with it.
  20. what? AAA Splits in 2013: Middlebrooks vs LHP: .271/.317/.475/.792 Bogaerts vs LHP: .319/.484/.532/1.016 What the hell are you looking at??
  21. This is silly logic. They're winning in spite of the black hole of 3B. If you can improve your team, you do it unless the cost is prohibitive. The cost is not prohibitive.
  22. There's a 1.5 game lead on the Rays right now. This team has a chance to make a deep playoff push, especially if Buchholz gets back. You don't want to face that 1 game play in. It's absurdly idiotic not to have Bogaerts up in Boston, yet continue to go with a due that has put up a .349 OPS in August and cannot defend for crap. Snyder has already lost us the game against the Angels with his defense and Holt has no idea what he's doing at 3B, he was 8 feet away from the pop up in foul ground last night and called Lavarnway off of one that was about to land on the plate. I cannot fathom what the hell they're thinking, keeping Bogaerts down. If he's not up by tomorrow for the game against Bruce Chen, a soft throwing lefty who he should absolutely destroy, I will be well beyond baffled. I could almost understand it if we had a duo who was posting a .650 OPS and playing above average D, then we could maybe let Bogaerts marinate a couple weeks more, but that's simply not the case. This team is winning in spite of the 3B absolute disaster.
  23. With the PawSox having an off day today, and the Sox set to face 3 lefties in their 7 games after today, I would expect that Bogaerts meets the team in KC and is in the lineup tomorrow night against Chen.
