  1. Hey. Italian. Salaries, you bum!
  2. Yes sir! I honestly thin they'll win 102 this year. But I was definitely a little greedy with my predictions.
  3. The way I read your post, it sounded more like you were objecting to Lowrie hitting 18 bombs than him hitting more than Drew.
  4. I see Lowrie taking the SS job during Spring Training.
  5. That's fine. I'll defend that pick to the death. I see little to no downside to it.
  6. As far as JD Drew goes, he's going to get platooned against most lefties, especially the tough ones since Cam has been so successful in the past vs LHP. Think about it. Vs RHP, you start Drew, who has a career line vs RHP of: .289/.397/.524/.921 Vs. LHP, you start Cam, who has a career line vs LHP of: .269/.372/.494/.866 Not to mention his 2010 OPS vs LHP was 1.128 and his 2009 OPS vs LHP was .954. So you're getting, more than likely, a RF with an OPS of over .900. To put that into perspective, Adrian Beltre last year had an OPS of .919, Robinson Cano had an OPS of .914, Jayson Werth had an OPS of .921. Platooning Drew and Cam, at this point in their career, with both of them getting older and constantly struggling with injuries, provides the Sox with outstanding defensive RF, and outstanding offensive RF. But, Drew will only get in about 120-130 games, and that includes PH in the later innings.
  7. It was. And I was shocked to see someone else picked up before him.
  8. HanRam was actually not who I was talking about, believe it or not. I'll let you know if/when someone picks this guy up. If he lasts all the way back to me, I'm going to do a naked dance. This just in from my wife. Someone needs to pick him up ASAP.
  9. I will say this - I am very surprised that a couple players haven't gone yet.
  10. Hey man. I got no love for Gonzo either. Although first base has much more power options than SS does, but maybe not at 4.75mm.
  11. I am going to go ahead and say that Lowrie will play more games than Drew. Thats why I think he'll put up more bombs. I have faith in the kid.
  12. I'm gonna get greedy. Ellsbury hits .297/.356/.420, 9 HR, 63 RBI, 98 Runs Scored, 58 SB Pedroia hits .305/.378/.470, 18 HR, 86 RBI, 108 Runs Scored Crawford hits .301/.347/.463, 22 HR, 97 RBI, 114 Runs Scored, 49 SB. Gonzo hits .338/.418/.612, 46 HR, 138 RBI, 112 Runs Scored Youk hits .317/.410/.568, 31 HR, 118 RBI, 98 Runs Scored Ortiz hits .263/.368/.531, 32 HR, 104 RBI, 84 Runs Scored Drew hits .276/.388/.518, 18 HR, 68 RBI, 79 Runs Scored Salty hits .267/.338/.468, 13 HR, 47 RBI, 52 Runs Scored Lowrie hits .282/.361/.498, 19 HR, 63 RBI, 72 Runs Scored. Lester - 20-8, 3.24 ERA Buchholz - 17-10, 3.42 ERA Beckett - 16-9, 3.85 ERA Lackey - 15-7, 3.96 ERA DiceK - 14-6, 4.14 ERA
  13. RSFFL - you're in better shape than I was. Italian - I had no idea that you were updating that grid the whole time. Glad a700 asked that.
  14. Hey RSFFL - that's a good quote that a700hitter wrote. I'll be honest. I took my wife on our first date, and we went to a Nashville Sounds (Brewers AAA affiliate) game, and she asked "How many periods are in a baseball game?". Brutal. She also thought it was gross that I was eating seeds and spitting the shells. I was just thinkin "Man. I have a lot of work to do" Now she's got an Ellsbury jersey, a Sox hat, she's been to a couple games, she watches all the games with me. She's almost as big of a fan as I am. And because of all this, she also has a ring. If you can get your girl to become a Sox fan, you're golden. By the way - last May we went down to see the Sox play the Rays at the Trop (the series the Sox ended up sweeping). We went to the first game of the series, Buch was pitching. We made a say that said "Buch Off, Ray-Holz" (F*** Off, A-Holes). We got there early, standing along the fence and Ellsbury runs out. This was his 1st or 2nd game back, and I said "Hey Ellsbury, good to have ya back kid!" He pointed at me, picked up a ball, and threw it right to me. It was incredible. Then, Pedroia walks out (this was like a week after his "Laser Show" comment), and everyone is yelling at him. He's ignoring everyone until my wife yells "Hey Pedey! Laser Show!!" to which he turned around and laughed and gave us a point. We ended up getting the ball that Ells threw to us signed by Francona. Pretty much the best trip ever.
  15. New thread up - 2011 Red Sox Predictions. If you make a "bold" prediction, be sure to back it up with something of substance (i.e. not just "Gonzo will hit 40 HR because he eats Wheaties")
  16. Go ahead and start making your predictions for the Sox in 2011. Whether it be individual stats, standings, or awards, we'll talk about it in here.
  17. While we're waiting on people, and since it's after Christmas now, can we start the predictions for the Sox this year on another thread?
  18. Damn. I thought Hamilton would be available at 7. Oh well, I like my $4.75mm first baseman.
  19. Ok I'm heading out right now. Italian - you have my picks if I'm not back in town.
  20. Cots it is. Lets go. Crisis averted.
  21. That doesn't make sense. There are a few players that I've looked up that were cheaper on Cot's than on ESPN. I'd tell you who, but I don't want to give away my picks.
  22. It doesn't really matter which one is "right" just as long as we're all using the same source. I mean, one of my potential picks is $800k less on Cots than ESPN, but then another one of my potential picks is $250k less on ESPN than on Cots. I'm biased to Cots. The numbers are much more round too
