  1. it will come down to the 6 remaining games we have against the rays
  2. another shutout for clay. he's probably moved ahead of price in the voting buchholz - 139.1 ip, 15-5, 2.26 era, 1.20 whip price - 157.2, 15-5, 2.97 era, 1.26 whip
  3. the replacements bill hall - .238/.309/.462 in 260 at bats darnell mcdonald - .272/.339/.437 in 254 at bats daniel nava - .273/.368/.424 in 99 at bats jed lowrie - .317/.438/.585 in 60 at bats ...i won't mention the stats of patterson, hermida, lowell or cash
  4. we've gotten plenty of breaks. the yankees and rays have both played .500 baseball over the last 24-25 games and we didn't do anything to take advantage
  5. if king felix wasn't playing on the m's he'd be the frontrunner but i don't think anyone's ever won the cy young with a losing record
  6. this one's a bit of a headscratcher. madden just brought in qualls (8.20 era on the season, 7.36 era since the all-star break) to try to prevent the a's from rallying back
  7. it's not over yet, the a's just answered with a leadoff single to open their half of the 8th
  8. the rays just went up 5-4 on a 2 run home run by sean rodriguez in the top of the 8th
  9. both lee and price struggled today, buchholz pitches tomorrow. here are the updated stats price - 162.2 ip, 2.97 era, 1.24 whip lee - 174.2 ip, 3.09 era, 0.98 whip buchholz - 133.1 ip, 2.36 era, 1.19 if buchholz continues to rack up the 7-8 inning starts, he has a realistic shot at this thing. when greinke won last year, he pitched for a non-contender and threw less innings than any of the other pitchers in the top 5 of the voting. his era was only .33 points better than his runner up felix hernandez. compare this to buchholz whose era is .61 points better than price
  10. 4-2 a's, a 2 out single drives in mark ellis. these 2 out hits are a back breaker
  11. 3-2 a's the leadoff walk came around to score on a mark ellis double with 2 outs and an 0-2 count
  12. price is spotted a run and he immediately gives up a leadoff walk
  13. tampa tied it up in the top of the 6th on a ben zobrist sac fly. the a's are now coming to bat
  14. the white sox and royals have a game scheduled for 2am tonight after the first game of their doubleheader was delayed by rain. wonder how many fans are going to be at that one
  15. how many late inning wins has lowrie been a part of now?
  16. good job by paps. i just wish he wouldn't try to be so cute when he's throwing 98 and he's got his splitter working. he doesn't need to throw 3 of them to each batter
  17. youuuuuuuuuuuu... oh wait, it's jed and he dropped the ball
  18. i'd say he's throwing a pretty good splitter. he got bautista to ground out on one, got wells to swing and miss on one and buck just lost his bat swining and missing on one
  19. i'd elevate here and if he doesn't chase then throw the splitter
  20. great pitch sequence against bautista. he fell behind 2-1 but then painted the corner with a 97 mph fastball on black and got him to ground out on a 91 mph splitter well below the knees
