Agreed. Once the lowest guy is in, that becomes the new benchmark, and before long, we've got the Hall of the Very Good. You can't set specific targets, because that will affect how guys play the game, putting their stats first.
The reason Josh Beckett gets a pass for me for anything and everything is his WS winning performance against the Yankees in 2003. His money will never be good in my bar.
I haven't followed baseball very closely this season but what little I know tells me Houston was probably the best team in the majors - definitely AL, at least. They deserve the win.
When a team is deemed to have choked, I always wonder how much that's true and how much it's just the other team playing better. Like when they always say a player or team "allowed" x number of runs or hits. The other team is always part of the equation too.
I know what you're saying and I agree, but put it in the hands of the team, don't just hand them it based on which league's turn it is. Not a perfect answer, but I think it's the best.
