It's official. Seattle will be the 32nd team starting in 21-22. Just like the NHL to be so disorganized that they couldn't get two expansions done at the same time. I really don't like some of the names being suggested. Cougars, Sockeyes, Sea Lions, Kraken, Eagles..... Looks like AZ needs to move to the central, which sucks for them.

Wow. Now I think of it, I remember seeing someone's name once and it was spelled Shitie. Reminds me of the Austrian village called f***ing. The residents are bemused at the English/American tourists they get. Particularly the ones who take a photo while engaging in the act next to one of the village road signs.

I think your math is off. They were on the hook for $36mil and now they're on the hook for $80mil for one player who's likely to decline, is in PEDs foul trouble, and whose only reason for being back in NY is being a former client of the GM. I really don't see much upside here for the Mets. And now they might be in on Kluber, possibly swapping him out for Thor.

I'm pretty sure two awful parents attempted to name their kid ********, claiming it was pronounced differently than the usual way. Sigh. Edit: I don't think these parents were Guardians or aware of the Indian name. I think they were just trying to be smartasses.

Those teams often lack that piece (or depth) to put them over the top in the playoffs, though. I still believe there's value in moneyball, the concept makes a lot of sense. -

I'm a little rusty with my trade math. If Mets are taking on significant payroll and Diaz is the incentive for doing so, then doesn't that mean the return for the Mariners is not top shelf prospects? Something not adding up here.... and the missing part of the puzzle might be that the Mets GM is an agent with no experience of this side of the negotiating desk. AND Cano was one of his clients.... hmmm... but as for rush to judgment, it sounds like this deal is getting hammered throughout baseball, and I bring up the Shelby Miller trade - that too was panned far and wide at the time. There are some deals that are just so nonsensical that I think it's fair to question them right off the bat. No pun intended.

I don't follow the Mets but don't they need more than a closer? And to give up 2 highly rated prospects in addition to taking on 36 year old Cano and whatever of the >$100 mil he's still owed. My adage is don't bail out another team's stupidity.
