Why don't baseball GMs have a type of ebay, where they can anonymously post offers, and everyone can see the current top bid (the player and agent see which teams made the bids)? Because as far as I know, everyone bids blindly based on what the agent says about other offers received, as if that's going to be credible information. Players would hate this because it would tighten the market rates for players, with less possibility of wildly overpaying based on rumor (ARod and Texas).
