  1. Lackey wore a cowboy hat to the post-game press conference, probably means he's feeling pretty good haha
  2. His walk numbers have been crazy though. Look at the May split... .160/ .432 / .200 / .632
  3. Michael Sam drafted by a team in a red state, and will likely be the first gay NFL player. I am surprised this is not more of a big deal... Jason Collins in the NBA has been an extremely anticlimactic story. Maybe the media and biggots got bored and moved onto something else, I dunno.
  4. This team has really stabilized after Victorino came back. The numbers really don't show it yet, but this lineup and defense have been very different with him in it.
  5. I just want to point out that over 108 innings in 2013, Buchholz had a 1.74 ERA. In 2014, he ALREADY has allowed more runs than 2013. Something is not right with him, and he is the kind of pitcher that needs his health to be perfect to pitch effectively. It is time to put him on the DL, and let him figure things out. Rough loss, but hopefully the team all saved their worst performances for the same game. Hopefully the path to .500 won't be so tough the next time.
  6. Atleast the Red Sox got rid of Crawford. They paid the full amount to Dice-k.
  7. The Red Sox get stuck with Dice-k, the Yanks get Tanaka, and the Rangers get Darvish. Feels kind of painful, doesn't it?
  8. Bradley continues to play excellent defense, saving a run there.
  9. Let's see how he develops in the minors, and go from there, but if there are better options I would prefer using them. Plenty of talented arms just couldn't cut it as starters, but have shown to be significantly better as relievers, ie Andrew Miller, Joba Chamberlain, Daniel Bard, Luke Hochevar.
  10. Buchholz v Darvish Lester v Perez Lackey v. Robbie Ross JR. Darvish will be tough, but if they win tonight, they have a great chance of winning the series. Hopefully we see good Buchholz tonight.
  11. Workman went 7 innings with 4 hits yesterday... but those 4 were home runs. It makes me wonder if he might be more valuable in the bullpen for this team, with 4 well regarded starters in AAA next to him.
  12. In the same 4 season, Nick Punto has a 3.5 WAR.
  13. It is a good thing for the team though, especially considering that they're heading to Texas.
  14. .500 ! The Red Sox are at .500 !
  15. Yesterday, BornToRun went to Marge Schott's grave, because he had to take a Leake. Peavy crushes these guys tonight, the Red Sox beat .500, then quickly take the division and run away with it.
  16. Mujica has a 0.0 fWAR -- neither negative or positive. That doesn't seem right.
  17. In all fairness to Bradley, Victorino was the best defensive player in baseball for most of the year until he got banged up making excellent plays against walls.
  18. Sure, but they are a huge part of the problem. Vic in sss, and a few of the other bench bats have been bad, but Nap, WMB and XB have been the biggest contributors. Pedroia .246, Ortiz .286, Gomes .273, Sizemore .318, AJ .240, Ross .300, Herrara .669, Napoli .171, Victorino .125, Nava .091, Carp .071.
  19. WMB, JBJ and XB are hitting .208, .216, and .268 respectively. With runners on, .154, .354, .154. They all know how to draw a walk, but that doesn't help much with RISP. They are the core of the team's future -- they need to start producing runs.
  20. Red Sox pitching is #3 in the AL right now. Their relievers are awesome, and their starters are just starting to fall into place. If one of the young bats gets hot, the team will go on a tear.
  21. Wieters going to see Dr. Andrews. The AL East is suffering injuries badly right now.
  22. Today is Felix's day to get on track for the season.
  23. Didja hear that Marge Schott came up to bat the other night? She was the designated Hitler.
  24. His walks are way up, his strikeouts are way down, his BABIP is nearing the .400's. Could this be a case of the NL simply not knowing his weaknesses?
  25. The Red Sox have been ice-cold to start the season with a nasty case of World Series hangover. They could very easily go on a run, but it seems they are missing a bat.
