  1. Where did I mention offense at all? And as much as I love Shaq, he just can't handle the minutes. When Krysic and Big Baby are playing significant minutes at center, you're going to miss out a lot of productivity.
  2. Kobe's going to get his 40 points no matter what happens. Bynum is one of the most underrated players because of his significant injuries, but every time I've seen him play, he's looked very much like a top 5 center with huge shotblocking ability. For the 2010 Finals, I kept saying, center is a key position, and when Bynum stayed healthy and Perkins busted his knee, the Celtics just couldn't close.
  3. Marcum moving from the AL East to the NL Central. If he hasn't "broken out" yet, this is the year for him to do it. Greinke's no slouch either. When you add a #1 and an elite #2 to a 77-85 team, good things happen. The Yankees 2009 is a different situation, but they added 14 wins.
  4. If they face Howard or Noah in the playoffs, they're in trouble without a reliable center. And if Bynum is healthy, NWIH they beat the Lakers.
  5. I'd put money on the Brewers now before the Cardinals situation gets worse.
  6. This seems more like a funny anecdote than anything serious. Well, its good to know that Crawford isn't cheating on his taxes, or his wife...
  7. At the end of 2010, they had a chance to shakeup their roster and start fresh around Rondo. Instead they re-signed Allen and Pierce. Its too late to make moves for the future, they're going to have a steep drop at some point, so why not atleast try to win a championship now? And just because deals haven't been reported doesn't mean they haven't been completed. Wallace is another possibility.
  8. They cleared up two roster spaces. I refuse to believe this is all that's going on.
  9. Okay, now this makes no sense whatsoever. Trading away your starting center, and your backup point guard for a third string center and a backup forward?
  10. In all fairness, Cleveland's second round pick is going to be in the low 30s. Not that I like that deal either, but I get the feeling they're working on something bigger.
  11. I didn't say I like the deal, but that is their logic. They had no small guys on their bench, and a pile of bigs, plus the possibility of a return from Wallace. Perkins could still be hurt. I have no idea, but I trust them.
  12. Wasn't Perkins going to be a free agent? I think this is because of Daniel's injury-- they had far more depth when it came to bigs, and I think this means they're considering Big Baby long term. They knew they couldn't win a longer series without more depth to cover Lebron/Kobe/etc.
  13. Ellsbury did hit .300, and have an OBP of .355 in 2009. I'm not saying he'll get right back to that, but those are perfectly good numbers for a leadoff hitter. He's also a good candidate because unlike Crawford, he doesn't have much power, and makes a lot more sense hitting from a spot where fewer runners will be on base, ie after Scutaro/Salty. Also, unlike the majority of the roster, he hits just as well on either side.
  14. I gave four possibilities of where Crawford/Ellsbury might hit, but 7th? I just don't see it. With Ortiz, A-gon, and Youk ahead of him, that'll really lower his value because none of those guys run very well.
  15. It doesn't matter what the Cavaliers do, they'll never get back their best player-- Big Z.
  16. Dear DirtDog In the future, can you refrain from needlessly capitalizing "pal" in future messages? Its kind of my thing Your Pal, Pal
  17. Morneau is still nursing his head, isn't he? Pujols/Holliday sounds better to me, because you never know when Pujols will be wearing a different uniform.
  18. Boston gets to play Utah/Denver in the next week. Talk about good luck.
  19. Damon a HOF? Hmm, I don't know about that.
  20. There was a report from one of the boston sites about Miller. Young was watching him throw a bullpen. Miller kept throwing hard, but kept missing his throws. Young continued to watch him, not saying anything. For some reason, it makes me think that maybe Miller's problems are mostly in his head.
  21. #75 Rizzo Didn't see Fuentes. But still glad to see 3 Sox on the list, especially since Kalish isn't one of them.
  22. Everything in St. Louis goes through Pujols. Going from two aces to none is not the way to make your free agent bound franchise player happy, and NWIH they do a complete overhaul.
  23. His argument is that with one of the top 2 offenses in the league, and an insane bullpen, this team can preserves more wins for its starters. The ERA and WHIP stats seem reasonable enough. The problem is that he seems to be overlooking that bullpen's strength is at the end of the game, and I see the starters losing wins in the 6th and 7th innings, rather than than the 8th and 9th where other teams will run into a brick wall.
