  1. Buchholz was cleared to pitch tomorrow.
  2. This is not Derek Jeter. They're not paying him 45 million out of respect, he's making about one million. He's a spot starter that pitches like a spot starter. The problem was, Dice-k and Doubront have been out all season, and Wakefield has gotten more starts than he could probably handle. The guy is 45, and he's pitched every fifth game for a few months, solely because the Red Sox couldn't find anyone better. Do you really think Miller is going to keep his current streak going? I certainly do not.
  3. Wow, just read through two or three Herald invasion threads. Sounded like a lot of chaos, but I'm glad VA stuck around since then.
  4. But that's my point. Get four aces, and one will be on the DL at any given time. If they're all healthy? That's unexpected, but its a win.
  5. How is 4 months off completely misleading? If he starts in the ALCS, it will be 4 months between starts. I'm not saying that simulated games are worthless, however, they are not always a sure-fire way to evaluate if a pitcher is ready to throw 80-100 pitches to real batters, guys like Texeira/Cabrera/Hamilton/Howard. Escalating his pitch count from 0 to 80 is not exactly easy on a guy's body. That being said, if they can do it without putting too much strain on him, I'm all for Buch gearing up to start against the Phillies.
  6. The Dodgers' All-star corner outfielder took himself out of the lineup with a "sore right knee" which the team has been disputing. Just to be clear, Manny retired this year, I'm talking about Andre Ethier
  7. Bartolo Colon has a 3.00 ERA against the Red Sox this year, with a .222 BAA, and 1.20 WHIP. That's a lot better than Lackey has been against the Yankees. I'm also a little afraid that Colon may need "medical attention" in the DR again before the playoffs. You also didn't mention Hamels. In all reality, Lackey will pitch against Fister/Scherzer, then Colon/Nova, then Hamels/Oswalt. Lackey fits as a #4 starter, but some of those #3s concern me, especially Hamels without a DH.
  8. Wait, is Outman pitching in rainboots?
  9. Haha, its not worth $20 to me to sit there in soaked bleachers and several hours of rain delays:lol:
  10. They're really going through with this game? Three hours of rain delays, and now they're going to try to get a second game in?
  11. They haven't decided yet. The Sox don't have any more games with Oakland this year, and it makes it very difficult to push it back, but it doesn't look like the rain is going to go away. It sounds like the game will simply be cancelled, and not delayed.
  12. I posted this in H11AM thread, but I'm counting on game 2 being cancelled. I bought cheaaaap tickets for game 2 an hour ago, and I have absolutely no intention to go to the game tonight. I'm 10 miles from Fenway, and it is absolutely pouring here, and its supposed to pour all night.
  13. I have no trouble imagining him as a 15 home run guy who may hit 20 in a good year. But I'm a little skeptical of him repeating this year. If he does, awesome, but I am worried about committing a monster Crawford type deal to him.
