  1. Not so sure why you're so adamant they're wrong. We verified that list in the 2012 financials thread. We were under the impression at the time that signing bonuses are included in the contract... if that is not true, then you can factor them out, otherwise the numbers all look correct.
  2. Cots doesn't include A-gon's or Buchholz's contracts.
  3. Cots uses actual salaries per year. AtWork's calculations used the AAV.
  4. I dug this up for you. Atwork made a financials thread, and I made some necessary edits. Its in the Offseason thread somewhere. You can also subtract the 3 million from Lackey's contract because of the vesting option, and add money for Scutaro, but I think this should be relatively accurate:
  5. Well,in all fairness, you do criticize him rather often
  6. I'm a little bit surprised.
  7. I had been discussing the A's as a good trade target earlier in the thread, not necessarily their best pitcher.
  8. This. The Red Sox have five position players that have contended for the MVP and three pitchers who have contended for the CY Young in the last three years. I lost count, but there were somewhere between 15-20 All-Stars in the organization in 2011, and that is no exaggeration. The talent is there. It is just a matter of everyone being healthy and motivated at the same time.
  9. There are bonafide aces in the NL who are going to be aces in the AL. But those are going to be very cost prohibitive. Sanchez was the Marlins's best pitcher last year, and would probably be a #4 here. The Braves may be a fit, but when you're dealing with a world series contender, you're going to have to give them value for today, not tomorrow. Same for the Giants, could you imagine what Cain would cost? The organization is more likely going to target #3/4 type players.
  10. The unfortunate problem is that the majority of pitchers in the major leagues are going to have problems like this. 16 teams are already blacklisted as NL teams. AL West teams are in a pitcher park division. AL East teams won't trade within the division without a premium. The Red Sox need more trade targets than just the AL Central.
  11. It probably means he just doesn't want to come in 5th place for the next ten years.
  12. In all fairness, you're comparing a SS/3B to a 1B. Pujols has better offensive numbers, but that doesn't necessarily make him more valuable. That being said, Pujols will crush Arod's career numbers.
  13. I am more apt to trust the law of Murphey to the law of averages.
  14. Oh, apparently Lincecum made 13 million in 2011. The costs may turn out to be prohibitive, not to mention the nightmare of trying to re-sign him longterm.
  15. Yes, this is what I am saying. I think that both of those players are better than your average 4th outfielder. Between the two of them, both will provide exceptional defense, and one will provide quality at bats... I just think it is too soon to tell which one to trade.
