  1. It doesn't matter if it was an upgrade or not. In 2012, it will be a negligible difference, or a loss of value. He may light the world on fire in 2013 or 2014, but pitching on 4 days rest versus 5 days is a big change, and the Texas summer won't help him get adjusted.
  2. If the Red Sox make a trade with the Brewers, it would be for Marcum/Greinke/Gallardo. I'd have a hard time trading one of those prospects for Hart at this point, nevermind all of them-- they need pitching, and a package like that could probably get close to one of those pitchers.
  3. Honestly, I don't know how Ortiz would even ask for 16 million. Adam Dunn, Vmart, Hafner, and Guerrero are making 12 million or less. How on earth would a 37 year old (who probably has a questionable birth certificate) who doesn't even play a position make 16.5? Albert Pujols made LESS than 16.5 in 2011. Albert-f***ing-Pujols. There is no way he wins this arbitration hearing.
  4. I usually follow it pretty closely, but I'm usually at work when most of the matches are on, so its hard to catch most of it. Its a shame that they don't re-air most of the matches on primetime.
  5. I hate to say it... but the next guy on the OF depth chart is Che-Hsuan Lin.
  6. Why is it that Red Sox players opt for surgery several months after they actually need it? We've seen it with Lowell, Lackey, Buchholz, Lowrie, Delcarmen, and now Crawford all in the past three years, and those are the only ones I can remember. I think the Red Sox need to add an addendum to all contracts from now on that if a player conceals an injury, it gives them the right to null a contract, because this is happening far more often than it should.
  7. Do you mean Drake?
  8. Right, that's why his FIP is lower on the road, because the difference in the quality of his starts-- hits allowed in that huge park-- does not factor into the stat. Sorry if I was unclear.
  9. I feel optimistic about Bard as well, but I think one more starter is pretty crucial right now, even if that is Saunders. I don't think we can trust the top 3 to stay healthy all season, and Bard won't be able to give more than 150 innings. I also don't think the Red Sox can afford to lose both Aceves/Bard from the pen, especially with Bailey's low inning counts.
  10. Right, but that is because he gave up significantly fewer hits at Safeco than at other parks.
  11. You missed one. Jacoby Ellsbury.
  12. Did you guys factor in the Lackey option yet? That should amount to a luxury cap savings of 2+ million. I would bet that they're waiting till they hit the cap before exercising it.
