  1. Salty strikeout for a ball in the dirt. Who didn't see that coming?
  2. Three pitches all in the same exact spot against Carp, all balls. Somehow the umpire called two of them strikes, but not the other. Then, the next batter he calls a pitch right down the middle a ball because the pitch was dropped by the catcher. The poor call helps the Red Sox, but I really am sick and tired of umpire ******** like this.
  3. Then why put him in at all? Pitching coaches always talk about how warming up for games is just as tough on a pitcher's arm as is actually pitching, so its not like saving him ten pitches really makes a difference.
  4. Very poor use of the bullpen. Really not sure what happened there.
  5. Stephen Drew has been worthless at the plate so far. #freeIggy
  6. Ross hits a home run against Darvish. Darvish is absolutely cruising, with very good control. Darvish throws a "bad pitch" right at Ross's head. Why did no one make a big deal about this?
  7. Is it just me, or does Ellsbury completely refuse to climb up on anything to steal home runs?
  8. It appears that the Red Sox chose the wrong 100 million dollar Japanese pitcher.
  9. 334 for Randy and 316 for Curt in 2002. Randy Johnson hit 300+ from 1998 to 2002 and a few years prior, and Schilling did it in 1998 and 1999 as well (NL). I didn't look any further back than that.
  10. Here is the list of the opponents Ogando has faced so far this year: @Minn @LAA @ChC @Sea vs Tampa @Hou Those are some of the worst offenses and best parks to pitch against in baseball. Ogando has a rude awakening coming today.
  11. Dan Shaughnessy says he will shave his head if Ellsbury is still here next year. Boob, sign him!
  12. I just don't see any team wanting to give 20 million dollars for a guy who looked like his arm was falling off 2 starts ago. If you replace Lackey with Cliff Lee, it will cost the Red Sox a net 15-20 million per year + prospects. I don't want to see the Sox spend 20-25 million a year for a 35/36/37 year old pitcher who has been in the NL the last few years.
  13. The problem with Lackey is that he'll give you more here than he will somewhere else. His arm is in rough shape, and he's getting 32 million the next two year. If he pitches okay, maybe you get 5 million a year back, maybe. If he pitches well, maybe 7-9 million back... but if he's pitching well, why bother? The only way you're going to get 12-16 million back is if he is pitching exceptionally... and in that case why trade him at all?
  14. Cliff Lee is more intriguing to me now that in the past, but who does he replace? Maybe they leave Webster down in AAA a little longer, but he's very close to ready to pitch at a high level. I don't think Cliff Lee is worth 12 million more a year than Dempster, and Lackey/Buch are definitely staying put. If you get Cliff Lee, its because you plan on trading Lester at the end of the year IMO.
  15. I completely forgot that the only run Toronto scored today was the leadoff homer by Lawrie.
  16. Not sure where you're watching from, but Hanrahan is warming.
  17. Toronto's defense is awful.
  18. Hanrahan.....? Fortunately, Uehara took care of the toughest part of the order.
  19. Uehara throws 10 pitches... and high fives 15 teammates.
  20. I was about to argue with you... but if you look at Napoli, he started heating up almost exactly the same time when Ortiz returned to this lineup. Ortiz had a day off on the 23rd, and Napoli went 0-3.
  21. 10 base runners and an error in 4 innings, and only two runs. Wow. Better go after those middle relievers.
  22. Dempster not throwing well tonight. Bautita/Encarcion could be trouble.
  23. Among the five of them, the best ERA in the AL was 4.56-- and that just happens to be a guy who is severely injury prone. Many many things needed to go right for this rotation to succeed, and fortunately that's what happened.
  24. Is Ortiz day off scheduled?
