    Nava's splits are pretty heavy -- .229/.316/.354/.670 .322/.430/.537/.967 I would argue that it is probably worth continuing the platoon. Gomes is 32 years old, healthy, and has a career .880 OPS against lefties in places like Tampa and Oakland. The guy can hit lefties, and I don't think its fair to judge 60 ABs against them in 2013 -- especially since half of them are from the likes of Pettite, Sabathia, Price, Chen, Cliff Lee, and Holland.

    They traded Albers for him straight-up. Both have pitched well the last two years-- its always good to see win-win trades.

    I would rather they baby Buchholz and see him throw 160-180 innings than to see him get hurt and pitch 110, and miss the playoffs. Cy Youngs are fun, but its not worth hurting the team's playoff chances for one.

    He still has a 6.85 ERA. We need to keep in mind that the Phillies are the #27 offense in the majors-- who just lost Chase Utley. Hopefully he can build momentum after tonight though.
