  1. If they could only play like this all the time
  2. C's looking good so far tonight. Shooting got a little cold in the middle of the 1st, but they are rolling again
  3. Lackey has been a bust so far. He has pitched through a quater of his starts and his era is over 5, I guess that is what 18 million per year will get you. As I said in the last winter, be weary of Jon Lackey. Since 07, his number of starts and innings have gone down, his ERA has risen, and he had injury problems. The guy def. isn't what he was in 07, and the Sox def. gave him way to much money. I'd rather given the money to Bay and kept him around.
  4. Ortiz has been ripping in May. Dice-K has 4 scoreless innings so far.
  5. At the end of the year he was back to performing like he did in May, not that bad, but he was back to looking like a fool again. Same deal in the playoffs. Those numbers don't tell how bad he was down the stretch last year, but then again if you watched the games you would see it.....
  6. I don't understand Pierce's cockiness, its not like the C's have blown out the Magic. I mean they have almost blown 4th quarter double digit leads and each game has been won by 4 points and 3 points. These have been close games. I find it more likely that Orlando takes 2/2 in Boston over a Boston think. I think the C's split and series goes back to Orlando 3-1 in Bostons favor
  7. Ortiz is on fire right now. He's hitting around .370 for the month of May with 7 bombs. It would said in the off season that Ortiz was the key and the wild card to the offense, now that he is heating up we don't have a black hole in the middle of the lineup. Also, Mike Lowell will probably go soon now b/c the Sox no longer have any use for him and by talking every day about his playing time sure makes the clubhouse a tense place to be sometimes. I'd still like to see Ortiz be productive for another month or so, my fear is that he'll just heat up and then suck in the last months of the season like he did last year.
  8. I said that the starting rotation could turn it around, the bullpen is what worries me. Besides Bard, who is a rookie in his own right, the whole bullpen is shaky. Wait, why am I responding to a banned poster? :dunno:
  9. Beckett needs to get it together while on this DL stint and come back and pitch like we all know he can it. It will be June when he returns and he can't keep throwing away starts like he has been doing and costing the team games. Glad we have Wakefield right now, everyone knew he would string together a few starts here or there b/c of injuries.
  10. Was it Pinella that Fisk got into it with?
  11. My bad, well its not entirley my fault I mean I wasn't alive back then. When Fisk fought that guy and when Bill Lee messed up his shoulder, that was intense. You don't see that anymore
  12. Beckett has a back issue, so lets see what his problem before we deem him ready to comeback. We still have a major issue of the bullpen, which isn't going to get any better unlike the starting rotation which has a lot of upside to get better.
  13. This team lacks a closer or a bullpen for the most part
  14. Whinus Maximus is silent, for now. Guy has great range that is a given, but that hasn't been his problem.
  15. From what I've watched, Beckett has struggles pitching out of the stretch. When guys are on base, their OBP against this year is something like .300 points higher than when no one is on base. Also, interestingly, when no one is on first Beckett's numbers are better. What I would guess what this means is that Beckett worries too much about holding runners on at first, and using that slidestep his prohibiting from throwing his best stuff, which is hurting him b/c guys are crushing his fastballs and his curveballs are ineffective
  16. I agree, 03/04 was when the rivalry was at its peak, both teams were playing so well and there were so many incidents. "Who is Kareem Garcia,"- Pedro. Jeff Nelson and Garica attacked a Fenway grounds keeper in the bullpen. Pedro throw Zimmer to the ground. Those days were heated.
  17. back to .500.... hopefully something can be built off this win
  18. THANK f***ING GOD
  19. With a stab like that, Paps should be at SS.
  20. OK! Nice job Paps!!!! One more out!
  21. keep the ball low Paps
  22. well, a walk isn't the worst thing.
  23. almost had Cano..... nice throw V-Mart
  24. 2-0 heading back to Boston is huge
  25. pathetic, here we go again
