    If he leaves the division that benefits the Sox because we don't need to match up against him X times a year when the Blue Jays come up on the schedule. As long as he doesn't go to the Yankees I'll be happy if he just leaves the AL East and doesn't get traded to the Sox. I still want the guy, but if goes out to the NL West and can't hurt us, thats fine too

    Beltre has something like a .320 OBP, since that is the stat the FO lives and dies by apparently, I don't think they feel he would be good fit in Boston. Playing at Fenway will spike his numbers, but there is still not much more upside that Beltre has over Lowell. Anyway, can Chone Figgnins still play Shortstop?

    Yea, I would be fine with that too. We wouldn't have to lock him up long term and he'll play hard and won't slack b/c he knows he could become a free agent again and get a big pay day. Then again he was probably thinking during the past year with the Blue Jays. I wouldn't expect him to take anything less than a three year deal.

    If the Sox want Halladay, they can get him. The Yanks package, unless they offer both Hughes and Joba won't be as good as the Sox. The Jays will probably talk a lessor package to trade him out of the division. If the Jays trade him in divison, they want to hurt the Sox or Yankees farm sytstem for years to come if they trade for Halladay.

    Easy there guys. According to MLB trade rumor if the Braves sign Lackey, Holliday, Scutaro, or Velverde then the sox get the fifty second pick not the 20 pick.

    I too am weary of Beltre, there is no offensive upside over him compared to Lowell, but if Pedrioa is going to be moved to SS we are going to need more range on the left side of the infield, something that Beltre would provide. I'm not sure if I like the idea of the Sox filling one hole by plugging one guy in there leaving another whole to fill. All these rumors for Uggla and Philiips would make more sense if this transition by Pedrioa was made, but at what cost would we have to get these guys? I think Phillips could get acquired for not that bad of a price in terms of prospects if the Sox took a relatively large salary starter like Harang or Arroyo.

    I'm not that big a fan of Lackey. His ERA has gone up each of the last three seasons and being over 30 I'm worried about his injury last season and i don't think he'll be able to throw as many innings as he used to. Pitching in the AL East, and Fenway Park would skyrocket his numbers. We would also be paying him ace money for what would essentially be a number three starter. Halladay has proven he can pitch in the AL East and guy is a workhorse.

    I've rumors that we could trade for Johnny Peralta.. also found this link I don't see why the Marlins would trade Hanley now when he is still managable in terms of salary. If the Marlins are really building the new stadium they need some players to draw the fans to it. I think Hanley is the ultimate pipe dream, we would be trading a whole, whole lot for him.

    I think he meant in todays baseball with all the roids, Growth Hormones, and other PEDS that Ruth would have destoryed his body at 35 as opposed to when he destoryed it in his late 30's when he actually played.

    The Sox should sign Miguel Tejada for one year. Sure his defense is on the decline, but the guy hit last year, and for the most part he has always hit. Scutaro is a 34 year old one year wonder. We won't be tied down with Tejada unlike Scutaro who will demand a 3 year deal. Also I believe Tejada is only a Type B free agent, so we wouldn't have to give up anything other than money to get him. Scutaro is a type A guy. It just isn't worth it to sign Scutaro. We are all talking about stop gap solutions until Iglesias is ready, how the hell is a 3 year deal a stop gap solution?

    I remember last offseason I was reading about the Sox trying to get Texas' catching trio, well now that trio is just down to Salty and Teagarden since Laird was shipped out. The talks said Mike Young would be a part of a salary dump throw in. I wonder if we hear any of those rumors this offseason since the Sox are in the same position they were in last offseason, in having no catcher of the future. We had Exposito last offseason yet we pursued catchers. V-Mart isn't a long term solution at C either.

    SS is a position you need stability at. When the Sox won in 07, even though Lugo was terrible, at least we knew he was going to be out there everyday. Know we have no idea who will be thrown out there. You can put out the bust waiting to happen in Scutaro, or go with a platoon of whomever. I'd would really much rather have a set guy out there who can play the position day in and day out instead of this platoon crap. Pitchers can focus more clearly when they don't have to worry about shotty defense behind them. That is why Gonzo was the answer.

    Iglesias has a future, unlike Nick Green or Jed Lowrie. Hell, he'd probably be more effective than those two anyway. Trading for an SS takes away prospects that would be used to get us Halladay or Cabrera. I don't know what kind of prospects Drew would demand, Bowden, Tazawa, Reddick or whatever, but I hope the Sox can just land a guy that can be effective for 2-3 years until Iglesias is fully developed and ready for MLB ball.

    The team has no starting SS, its something to worry about. Scuatura is a bust waiting to happen and I pray we don't go in that direction.

He has very little according to the author, unless we can can get Detroit to dump his salary on us for one or two decent propsects, we shouldn't bite. Absorbing a contract like that is pretty killer, especially at first base, where Youkilis already does a good job and you can replace talent there relatively easily.

    Well Gonzo is gone, he signed a one year deal worth 2.75 mil with the Blue Jays with a club option year. Why the hell couldn't Theo offer that contract? We better get the SS position solidified before the year starts, none of this open try out/platoon crap. Theo must have lost his mind if he is just going to give Jed Lowrie the keys to the starting SS position. Hope he has a contingency plan, b/c when Lowrie sucks and/or gets hurt again, I don't want Nick Green out there struggling to field the position again next year.

    NESN is saying Lucic is alright. Does Thomas have a broken hand, thats what I heard, which would make sense for him not playing at all lately. TUUKKA! It should be his job, he is our future, not Timmy. Thomas had a great run, but its Tuukka's time to shine. In all seriousness you need to have Thomas playing up to his top level come playoff time, b/c I don't think Rask will be quite ready this year to handle the playoff pressure. We shall see tho.

    Bruins win in a shootout and finish the trip 4/4 with the max 8 points achieved. Rask has been amazing. All the guys are back, hope Lucic's leg is ok. Hell Tim Thomas could be the backup by the end of this year the way Rask has been playing. Thanks for giving him that terrible deal. Trade his ass while you can

    Just like everyone else has no idea how Clay Buchholz will pan out. Guy is already 26 and who knows if he will ever live up to the hype.
