  1. They did, untll the Yanks manager went about making piss poor choices again. Oh well, I'd rather have them loose this game then give us all false hope only to have our hearts crushed by the invincible Cliff Lee.
  2. Rangers should send Girardi a special gift for single handedly throwing away this series.
  3. Girardi is mentally retarded, what happened to the strategy of using Wood/Sabathia/Rivera to close it out?
  4. tied game now, js
  5. Just like that
  6. Well he only allowed just two extra base hits
  7. Yeah thats all I meant by being effective, don't think it was that difficult to see.
  8. You have to look at more then just hits, especially RISP (runners in scoring position) where he went 1-for-8. Not a single Rangers player hit his off-speed pitches into play that night.
  9. No I totally take it back, it would be the worst comeback ever, who cares if the Yankees become 1 of 10 teams in history to come back to win after dropping the first 3 of 4. I mean they only have a 15% chance of winning and face a guy who's only undefeated in the post season with a 1.1 ERA, plus he was a little shakey last year but this year he's thrown half the amount of pitches, so whats the difference if he's even stronger then before. I bet the Red Sox would've have rocked Lee with there eyes closed.
  10. He wasn't "effective" in terms of having best stuff yesterday. In 6 long innings he allowed 11 hits, and frequently fell behind hitters because he could not locate most of his pitches. However, in the immortal words of Rangers manager Ron Washington, the Rangers had Sabathia bended, but he did not break. He did not walk any batters, and allowed just two extra base hits. In this way he was able to scatter baserunners over his 6 innings and allow just 2 runs. If that performance wasn't effective, what do you call it?
  11. Not effective in Game 5? Sabathia's offspeed pitches dominated the Rangers all game. Texas did not put one of Sabathia's 44 offspeed pitches in play, and they struck out five times against them - all on sliders. It marked the first time this season an opponent did not put a single offspeed pitch in play against Sabathia. With the Rangers collecting all 11 of their hits against Sabathia on fastballs, his offspeed offerings, combined with the Yankees offense, were enough to get Sabathia a win. Sabathia's offspeed stuff in Game 5: 44 pitches, 17 swings, 10 misses, 5 strikeouts, no balls in play. With runners in scoring position, Sabathia turned to his offspeed pitches, with 19 of his 34 pitches with RISP being of the offspeed variety. Sabathia's three strikeouts with runners in scoring position were all with sliders. Throwing offspeed pitches with runners in scoring position made his fastball more effective, as the Rangers were 1-for-8 total against Sabathia with RISP.
  12. Ages tends to effect WR's more then it does LB's.
  13. There's a high chance Driver will have retired 3 years from now, he'll be nearly 39.
  14. Jeter has been hitting well too, but when you're 3rd and 4th hitters aren't contributing its going to hurt your team. They had several good scoring opportunities in the games they lost, but didn't get timely hits. (aside from G3) Sabathia's and Hughes poor performances in G1 and G2 is most likely due to the fact that they were pitching on extra rest, which has been shown to affect them negatively.
  15. Yankees should have this one in the bag, I don't see Colby Lewis keeping this offense from scoring this time around, Hughes should have a better game, if not they have Wood ready to come in the 5th and CC/Mo to close it out.
  16. You're saying its harder to win 4 games in a row against mediocre pitchers as opposed to winning 3 games in a row, with one game being against a guy who has been completely invincible? I'd choose to have to win 6 games in a row against average pitchers, rather than 3 games against Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, and Tim Lincecum, can you see my point? lol
  17. Sorry you're right, I was looking at the WP/LP. I'm not trying to take anything away from your '04 season. I just think its a taller order for the Yankees to come back from this then it was for the Sox to do back then. Not that it really matters, its highly unlikely to happen.
  18. No, but beating Cliff Lee who is 7-0 with a 1.5 ERA in the post season; during Game 7 after coming back from 3-1 would be more impressive to me then the Sox winning 4 in a row in 2004. Look at the starting pitching match ups for those last 3 games. Wakefield, Schilling and Lowe vs Loaiza, Lieber, and Brown. lol Yankees didn't have a stopper in 04; the Rangers have the best stopper you can get in Lee. If Pettitte wasn't on the Astros that year it could've very well turned out differently
  19. His cutter is pure perfection
  20. If the Yankees beat Lee in Game 7 it will be the greatest comeback in MLB post season history
  21. 4 PM on a Wednesday, they didn't want to be bothered calling out of work. lol
