  1. Haven't got to see the game... a goof on defense by Beltre again or did he actually make a nice play..
  2. Yeah, no one's ever done that before. And when you haven't even completed the first month of baseball's season, I don't even notice record and standings. Looooong season. Long season.
  3. No. It's the whiny thing now from Girardi that's funny, considering the ******** that comes from his pitcher Joba practically beaning a player. Joe should teach his player how to play the game the right way. You don't need to announce that through the media. Since it happened on a number of occasions, obviously the Yankees didn't seem to talk to Joba. And Bob Watson doesn't care. He's too busy dealing out harsher penalities to Red Sox players than Yankees. That's a whole other story.
  4. other topic... pitchers hitting batters. I'm glad to see Joe G. is consistent on this subject. Not. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2010/04/29/2010-04-29_plunking_of_posada_irks_girardi.html Yes, Joe. I too wish some pitchers had better command. Like Joba Chamberlin just letting one slip by Youkilis's head. Only Bob Watson doesn't notice...
  5. Everyone's bummed out about me not winning the tee-shirt. It's hurt the morale of the board...
  6. BTW - Rotoworld has taken some cheapshots at Francona over the years, but this is silly. Beckett took his own toll on his E.R.A. - Not his manager. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=MLB&id=2959&line=288114&spln=1 Sure, Francona left Beckett in longer in his last start than needed, but tonight? It was already difficult for a manager to go to his tired 'pen after just 3+ innings. The blame is all on Beckett for the position he put his manager in. Roto's site is focused on the Fantasy baseball aspect of things and poor Josh Beckett's numbers taking a hit. Francona has a tired-out bullpen to worry about...
  7. A good article about his inconsistency. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/view/20100427josh_beckett_failing_to_deliver_like_true_ace_great_concern/ He has actually had 30 starts as a Red Sox where he's given up 5+ runs. Of course his 2006 campaign was the worst of his Red Sox tenure...
  8. Enjoy the contract extension though, Beckett. I can see why this guy doesn't head to free agency... he's a better businessman than consistent pitcher.
  9. Josh Beckett is simply an overrated pitcher. He's had one truely great (" ace ") season with the Red Sox. Of course, 2007. The worst though that I remember was his 2006 year.
  10. I love that Josh Buckett / Bombs Away Josh is still called the Red Sox ace - not saying anyone here keeps uttering it, just that the media often will call him that to this day. As soon as Lester gets fully past his usual slow start, he will reinforce the true acehood of this team that he holds.
  11. edit: sorry to start some Cano, Pedroia thing. Oops. My bad. Anyway, I would probably start a team with Jon Lester .....so I agree with Jacko. Except, the bolded part. No, Pedroia is not a role player. Sorry, he's one of the league's young stars.
  12. The larger point was how Jeter was always being diminished in some measure when part of the vaunted Nomah!-Jeter-Arod -trifecta-. it kind of sounds like you saying Kinsler or Cano are a cut above Pedroia. This is just too much like Red Sox fans vs. Jeter in the 90's. Arod choked for so many years, you'd be hard pressed to find a Yankee fan from 2004-2008 that would have wanted Arod over beloved Yankee Jeter. A man, Jeter, that delivered so many times for the Yankees. (And even on defense, he's no slouch. That big play vs. Oakland in the playoffs, or diving into the stands against the Red Sox.) It's not all about pure talent anyway.... Cano isn't really as good on defense or work ethic as Pedroia. I'd also trust Pedroia more in a clutch spot. And I wouldn't take Kinsler over Pedroia.
  13. Underestimating Pedroia or Jacko trying to say there are potentially 1 or 2 more second basemen better, reminds me somewhat of Jeter being diminished by critics when there was Nomar or Arod at SS.
  14. Ugh. Cano and Kinsler are second to Pedroia. Edit: Yeah. I definitely wouldn't take Cano over Pedroia. It's Robbie's whole nonchalant fielding at times.
  15. yep... and our overall defense is just, well, oddly not great. But that will improve when we at least have our better outfield alignment. Ellsbury's eventual return would be a big boost, but the shame is that he had been hitting well just before that injury.
  16. Jacko also gets upset over gift calls from umps that help Boston. Yet he ignores that not a single bad umpiring call in last yr.'s playoffs went against the Yanks.
  17. Close. But Darnell McDonald sealed the deal this week... Darnell 4 Prez in 2012.
  18. Ugh. No. Lester please.
  19. Joba is a punk (only Bob Watson turns a blind eye when he beans Youk). Arod is a punk. And horseface was a punk tonight.
  20. Should we bring in the old broad from Murder She Wrote to prove that Yankees228 has been critical of his team's manager before a move was made in-game?
  21. He said it during his press conference after the game for posters in the Twilight Zone
  22. Get well soon, Jacoby. Have Heidi give you something to make you feel better
  23. Youk mentioned Buchholz pitching on Thurs. it's Lester?
  24. Once my namesake gets his s*** together, he will again take the mantle as this team's true ace.
