  1. This is not a statement about the common sentiment on this board, but it's laughable to still read media stories that refer to Beckett as "Red Sox ace". Eh, come on. Even the media should know Lester has taken that mantle, slow start to a season and all. I heard Pedroia the other week refer to Beckett as their ace, hey I expect him to say it. He's just saying the proper thing in front of a microphone, but I did kind of laugh. I thought, 'That's nice of Pedroia to call him their ace.... ' I simply don't see Beckett living up to this contract. I know it's easy to say now when the guy is down. But he's had one truely great year as a Red Sox and some shaky last two postseasons, another issue being the injuries he's had coming down the stretch the past two years. So some of it is unfortunate circumstance, but he is somewhat overrated as well, given the talent and hype that comes with a man of his talent and ability.
  2. Thanks Dipre... it sounds like the starter of this thread missed the early 2000's perhaps .
  3. He would rather repeat for the millionth time that the Red Sox are not as good as the Yankees or Rays, as if this is some sort of revelation, than focus on what the point of the thread is. The problem with Josh Beckett's inconsistency. And, all too frequent starts now displaying an alarming lack to miss bats. Just not allowing 5 + runs for awhile would be a start.
  4. http://www.rustybakeroutdoors.com/images/beck.jpg Another uplifting night from our Texan on the mound... oh well.
  5. Listen... this s*** of puking on Francona is nice, but the manager can't keep getting even an element of blame for this supposed dominant pitcher Josh Beckett, he of the big multi-million contract, getting his ass kicked again. Beckett is an incredible disapointment.
  6. Beckett ... Go get tased tonight by the police.
  7. Yeah... Beckett doesn't do himself any favors. I guess it doesn't matter. The checks from his fat new contract cash in for the next 4 years no matter what. He can rest on 2007 forever. Apparently that's the plan.
  8. Why does any Yankee pitcher the Sox face, no matter if it's a youngin' like Hughes, gets a better strike zone by umps than Boston's pitcher? Bob Watson, the umpires, no shortage of favoring towards the Yankees. Hey, it's their Universe... we're just living in it.
  9. Perhaps Daisuke wants to get tased? Philly-style.
  10. I don't feel like buying Red Sox merchandise, therefore saving dough Positive. I'm not going to buy overpriced tickets on ticket selling websites for a Fenway game this year. Positive. This works. It's not run prevention, it's wallet saver protection. "I'm lovin' it" like David Wells at a McDonalds drive thru. BOO YA.
  11. And Papelbon continues to be more prone to blowing it. I know he couldn't keep up his personal prime forever, but he's fustrating. Far from this team's biggest issue, though.
  12. And I can't stand Papelbon. Yikes... LOL, if the sucker mentions his future money, or Mariano Rivera, one more time in a sentence when talking about himself, I will become a Pirates fan until he's gone. Well, maybe not.
  13. I'm not sure that this has "ended their chances at the playoffs". But yeah... they look like s***.
  14. Tito doesn't have to go. It's perhaps John Farrel...
  15. You shouldn't be.
  16. Normally, when a pitcher goes bad, or a horse... you know what needs to be done. Uh huh. http://www.framaree.com/Rivendell_2007/My_Little_Pony_Glue_Factory.jpg
  17. Eh, that doesn't sound that homerish to me. But in the meantime, this shitfest is bizarre to watch. It's not worth watching.
  18. Does the idiot cabbie realize that run prevention is not some new crazy theory? It's what wins championships. Pitching and defense are actually good things. Which is why the Red Sox are losing, because they aren't pitching well enough. They aren't defending like they're capable. If you think a pitching staff of Lester-Beckett-Lackey is going to suck all year, well of course it won't. That alone is going to make run prevention better.
  19. The weirdo cab driver ^ has now stated the same s*** line over and over. The ignore feature is lovely... boo ya !
  20. Scott Boras's pillow contract isn't working so well. Remember when Boras and Beltre turned down a multi-year deal for a "pillow contract" to re-establish Beltre's value? Hahaha. Ah, Boras. Fenway will help your client? You better hope. But - part of Beltre's calling card, actually a big part of it, is his defense. And Beltre has complained of 'snakes' in playing the tough Red Sox infield. Apparently he's being attacked by alligators now at third base.
  21. bill mueller, bring him out of retirement to play 3b. haha
