The point is though, as shown with the Zito contract, is there is always a team willing to overspend. Beckett might not be in there class but he wouldnt have to be for a team to offer him on a 20 million per deal. Beckett is known as a pretty good regular season pitcher and has earned the title of a big game post season pitcher, you put that out there on the open market and teams are going to come in bidding high.
We'll see what happens if he hits the open market, I can almost guarantee that more than one team is going to come in at a 20 mil per avg

Bottom line this is going to be Becketts last big deal of his career and since he's been one of the best bargains in baseball the past three years I imagine he is going to be looking to cash in on his final big deal. I dont see how this deal gets done for under a 100 million but like I said before I will gladly eat crow if it does
