That Yankee dick-licker Heyman came on MLB.com and said the Red Sox were the big losers in the trading, because Bedard 'doesn't fit the Red Sox" and he was bombed his last start. What a dickhead Yankee apologist he is.
Rosenthal, a bit more objective, came on later and said the Yankees were the big losers--for obvious reasons. They better hope that angel dust Colon is taking lasts the whole season. Not to mention Garcia. The great overachievers.
I think the winners were the Phillies and the Rangers. The Red Sox did damn good, too--considering they didn't give up any top prospects like some of the other teams did.
Take a look at that Bedard deal. That's Theo at his best. They clearly had done a lot of groundwork on the deal with the Dodgers trying to get Kuroda. When Kuroda backed out, they had the pieces to give the Dodgers, who in turn had a piece (Robinson) to give Seattle, which was looking for offense.
So Seattle gets two minor league sluggers, Robinson and the Asian guy (name?) from the Sox, and bingo, the Sox have Bedard. And somehow, a 95 mph U. Georgia closer , #1 draft choice, slips in their package, too. I don't know where he came from.
If you've followed Bedard, you know he has pitched well this year, then tweaked his knee and was out a month. Then came back and showed he still has it. I feel pretty confident going into the playoffs with Lester-1, Beckett-2, Bedard-3. hopefully Buchholz there, too.
