    not to mention, you dont do that to your number 1, Im not big on worrying about players emotions, but thats not a message we would want to send to an ace who we would probably like to resign soon, when Beckett is on he is among the top 5 pitchers in the league, he is a number 1 even if he is having a rough patch and Im not going to be worried if Beckett is our number 1 pitcher for the post season, Id be more upset if he wasnt. if we give him a bit extra rest here I think he will be fine, he has been less than stellar as of late but not nearly as he was last year, I will still give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves he isnt worthy which I honestly dont see happening.

    The Manager position is overated, there are very few things they can do to affect what happens on the field, not to say that a good manager isnt good to have but if we had the best manager in baseball how many more wins do you honestly think we'd have? I dont think it would be much...a team full of good players wins games a team with bad players lose games, I dont care how well managed the Pirates are next year (not saying they are well managed) they will be one of the worst teams in baseball, and I dont care how poorly managed the Yankees are (not saying they are) they will most likely make the playoffs.

    look we all love Tek, we just all love Tek v2004, and unfortunately for him roster spots shouldnt be given on our affection for a player they should be given on performance, if we had a roster built with affection Ted Williams frozen head would be on the bench ready to PH when we needed it.

    I don't think it would be too smart to do that to Beckett, especially since Beckett owns in the post season, and if Beckett is on, there are few pitchers in the league that you would put over him, we will go forth with Beckett as the number 1 and Im sure recieve good results, not to take anything away from Lester who is having a phenomenal season and is most definitely one of the top 3 lefties in the league.

    that and Longevity certainly helps, and Teks been with us for a bit now. Trot had 133 and I belive 128 of those were against righty's.

    chill out guys, you've seen one start, not exactly a good sample size for a pitcher who can be as unpredictable as Wake.

    I missed Mike Greenwell, Reggie Smith, George Scott, and Frank Malzone, but I think I did pretty well...Im sure some of you did better, I damn near missed Trot Nixon lol.

    lol whats funny is that it seems that nick green sucks 99% of the time but manages to come up with timely hits more often than he gets hits in situations where its unimportant, does that make him clutch?

    Precisely, I wont say that there arent certain players that are more "clutch" ( a word I hate using) than others of similar stats, but they are few and far between and those players tend to still be great players (Manny Ramirez 2004-2007) but its not anything that one can quantify.
