  1. but I will say that if you look over a full career most players (there are few exceptions) OBP/AVG/OPS w/ RISP is close to their career averages, proving how impossible it is to quantify "clutch"
  2. avg./OPS/OBP w/ RISP can all do that much more effectively IMO
  3. effective when judging a player from the Padres worth.
  4. I would venture to say there are some defensive metrics that are pretty bad but I dont think they out suck RBIs.
  5. lol, can we not re-open this can of worms please?
  6. maybe but itd still need to be a team with a SS with good range to help close that gap, and I think he has more value in the AL where he can DH as well.
  7. true as well, he was at the first half of the season on a pace to win 20 games, while that might have been some luck it definitely shows he has somethin left in the tank, and if he is a 6th starter in a 5 man rotation he has value, and he can eat some innings in the BP if we need him to.
  8. I know but its that emotional side of me that even though you know it would be a bad idea you want to see a favorite back with the team no matter how bad and decrepid (see Garciaparra, Nomaaaaah)
  9. PTBNL? a mid to low lvl prospect?
  10. we might be able to work something out in seattle but NWIH is Lowell anything but a bit of a throwin that we would have to eat the majority if not all of the contract so I doubt that happens either. Burrell is pretty mediocre IMO which is why I mentioned the Rays. What could we possibly get from Oakland?
  11. this is true, I was just thinking of his value in terms of production without thinking of one of the most important things: $$$ but he could be an extra throw in in a trade, I just dont know where, The Rays could probably use a DH but I dont know if we have any type of potential for a deal there for anyone worth mentioning.
  12. .323 isn't THAT terrible when comparing it to our current options. can we say he can be a .330 OBP player with some potential to possibly raise that to a reasonable .340-.350 OBP with the sox if he pans out?
  13. Lowells value is now as a DH with some upside in that he can play 3B in a pinch.
  14. What is Hardy's career OBP, I know it isnt great but im just curious, and whatever it is I could see it rising 10-20 points in our lineup but thats strictly my opinion (obviously).
  15. thank you sir.
  16. so...hardy?
  17. please. lets just drop it. its such a stupid and inconsequential thing its not worth the time or the bandwith that its taking up. can we just pretend it never happened, Ive apologized twice and tried to drift back into the topic so now I think its time to move on. shall we?
  18. I dont care how much you insist, it isnt a serious question and it comes off as very confrontational, I honestly suggest we just get back on topic, Im sincerely sorry for the interruption.
  19. easy there man, this discussion can lead to places we dont wanna go, sorry for the interuption didnt realize it would create a little s*** storm lets just return to the topic at hand.
  20. OK back on topic, Hardy. he looks like quite the fit and if he panned out he could definitely help us be the frontrunners in the division next year, his OBP isn't spectacular but like we've discussed that can be forgiven by many of his other stats, not to mention the alternates are a young unproven and so far injury prone guy and a dude who hits like a blind mouse.
  21. JFC just continue the discussion, I already knew all that before I posted it, it was a joke hence the I knew exactly how you were using it I was just joking with you...
