  1. Fun piece of trivia: Jon Lester is one of only 3 Red Sox lefties to record 15 wins, 200 innings and 150 strikeouts in a season with an ERA under 3.50. Anyone know the other two?
  2. I'm not sure if I'll get a video feed of the game or not tonight. I use this site to watch games, but a lot of the times the guy who streams Red Sox game doesn't get back from work until the 2nd or 3rd inning. http://www.myp2pforum.eu/mlb-baseball/40463-baseball-today-friday-july-10th-streaming.html
  3. "Jon Lester's on the mound. Let's see if the Royals can hit him tonight" -Royals broadcaster
  4. I hope so. He's got a 1.64 ERA in 3 starts against the Royals and he's had a ~1.80 ERA his last 6 starts.
  5. Sweet, I got a radio feed from Wichita (the commercials are hilarious).
  6. Hey, those scrubs kicked our ass last night! That's depressing...
  7. "Mike Lowell's progress has improved exponentially over the last two days, according to Red Sox manager Terry Francona. So much so that Lowell will try to hit off live pitching in batting practice today. "Yesterday was the most encouraging day he's had in a long time," Francona said before tonight's game vs. the Royals. Lowell, who is on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 28, hasn't played since June 27 because of a strain to his hobbled right hip. So what's the difference between yesterday and the weeks before it? "He didn't hurt. That's all it really is -- he wasn't in as much pain," said Francona." -Extra Bases
  8. Yeah, I'd probably switch Varitek and Ellsbury. I really do like Ellsbury at the bottom of the order though. I kind of feel like his ability to steal bases is wasted at the top of the order because there are plenty of guys who could draw a bases on balls to advance him to second without the risk of a caught stealing, and there are plenty of guys who could drive him in from first base. I like that he's able to generate offense out of the bottom of the order.
  9. Wow, that chart really does fit every comment Wacko Jacko makes!
  10. This isn't nearly as bad as hid daily updates on Jesus Montero in Double A.
  11. The reason they said they like Ellsbury at the bottom of the order was because they didn't think it was necessary to steal bags in front of the big hitters. I think his ability to steal bases and generate offense at the bottom of the order is more useful in front of the weaker hitters because they aren't going to be driving in too many runs from first.
  12. Brian Bannister vs. Red Sox Hitters Drew is 4-9 lifetime (HR). Pedroia is 3-9 lifetime (HR). Youkilis is 3-8 lifetime. Ortiz is 3-8 lifetime (HR). Bay is 1-2 lifetime. Ellsbury is 2-4 lifetime. Varitek is 3-9 lifetime. Kotsay is 0-0 lifetime. Nick Green is 0-0 lifetime.
  13. Of course I didn't realize both Vladdy and Hunter were just put on the DL when I said that...
  14. I bet we clobber Bannister tonight.
  15. I could see why. He has the ERA of CC Sabathia and the peripherals of Brad Penny.
  16. Crespo, why are you so angry? I mean, seriously, think about it. What is going on in your life that causes you to be so grumpy? Maybe you should go outside, have a beer, meet some girls, see a band or something man. Deep down, do you really want to reduce yourself to signing onto an internet forum once a day to take out your frustrations from behind a computer screen? Come on, nothing is worth being this miserable. Cheer up buddy!
  17. Since he struggled with the Yankees and was went back down, Melancon's had a 3.38 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 29.1 innings at AAA. They may have brought him up a little too early.
  18. What about Chamberlain and Pettitte? Chamberlain - 4.12 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 4.76 FIP Pettitte - 4.53 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, 4.78 FIP Both their BABIP's are below career averages.
  19. His BB/9 is higher than it was with the Blue Jays, but his BABIP is also much lower (0.40 points lower than last year). I'd expect him to give up less walks and allow more hits.
