    What's Masterson have against Smoltz? Seems like he's always trying to blow his wins.

    Yeah, he's recovering from surgery and he'd been bounced around to 3 or 4 different teams to try to avoid rain outs. I just want him to get hot, come in and immediately perform for us so he can put all the doubts to rest.

    It was after a year of recovery (usually takes 2 years to recovery from Tommy John) and he wasn't right that entire year. That's the reason he was originally moved to the bullpen. I realize Beckett was hurt last year, but Smoltz has over 200 postseason innings. I think it's safe to say that he's pitched hurt as well. Not that it matters all that much, they're both on our team and if they're healthy they'll be starting for us in the postseason.

    97 pitches. Don't see much of a reason to put him back out there for the 6th up by 8 runs. But maybe they'll try to stretch him out a little more.

    I don't think you really have any lumps you need to duck out of. You're a great poster. We just like to give Jacko and Gom a hard time because they troll constantly when the Yankees are playing well and make the most ridiculous comments from "Smoltz and Penny's shoulders are hanging on by a thread" to "the Yankees bullpen is much better than the Red Sox". I hope people on the site don't give you a hard time just because you're a Yankees fan.

    Jed Lowrie went 3-5 today in Pawtucket with his 4th double in 11 rehab games.

    Smoltz pitched coming off Tommy John, and that's when he gave up a lot of his runs.

    First 46 games, 1 home run. Last 34 games, 11 home runs. That's gotta be one of the more torrid home run paces of his career.

    I knew someone would say that. Beckett has a 2.90 ERA in 87 postseason innings. Smoltz has a 2.65 ERA in 207 postseason innings.

    I said this earlier today, but his OPS is almost the same as Victor Martinez' who some of us think we need to acquire to improve our offense.
